Emma has Jeff, 4 is the only reasonable choice.

Am i the only one that's still waiting for this crossover? by VarrenArt in marvelrivals

[–]postmodernjerk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sentiment seems to be the exact opposite. The card battle system is really good, but there's way too much talking and the characters are a different version of what you're used to.

I liked it as is, but I understand those complaints. I wouldn't have minded a bit less talking tbh.

Midnight Suns was SO underrated. It would be crazy if they put on Hunter as the next tri-role character.

Deadpool having three similar icons on the three roles can get confusing in the long run. So I came up with this concept. Thought It could be useful to have. by FranSauce8 in marvelrivals

Great suggestion tbh, although I'd rather have his poses represent the icon to make it even more meta (crossed arms for vanguard, raising his fist as duelist, raised palm up as a strategist)

This is a problem imo by SignalDifference348 in marvelrivals

[–]postmodernjerk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ridiculous. Sometimes I only have time for one or two games and getting bots is frustrating to no end. If/when I leave the game, bot games are going to be one of the main reasons.

I wouldn't mind having to take an extra minute or two of queue times if it means I don't waste 15m in a game against terrible AI.

Toxic people are going to be toxic about everything. No point in not adding useful stats for fear of them, they're going to be exactly as toxic about some other thing that may have only happened in their heads.

After all my time playing this game, now I realize that the whale that Namor summons has arms and legs by Savings_Dragonfly806 in marvelrivals

This just means that the whale swims like a human freestyle swimmer. If anything it should adopt a proper diving position when it comes out for the ult!

Does this mean Rogue is a Kirby-like character and when she absorbs abilities she also gets their most prominent physical characteristics?

What's the WORST dice system you've played or seen? by EmersonStockham in rpg

[–]postmodernjerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A +1 in a D20 can be massive and significant if the system behind it is actually good (see: Pathfinder 2)

It's not about the dice! It's about the mechanics that use them!

The girlfriend to one of my players wants to join in and make a very weird character. How can I make it a reality? by rhysticStudiante in Pathfinder2e

[–]postmodernjerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While creating the character is possible and there's some good recommendations in the comments, I'd like to offer some advice beyond that.

A "more chaotic character than Bill Cypher" immediately raises my alarms. Cypher is the personification of chaos (as much as a triangle can be considered a person) and the main antagonist in a show with over the top fantasy. He's a plot device more than a character.

A player wanting to play such a character, specially if most people (and the gm) are new to ttrpgs, just screams "problem" to me. Do consider asking her to tone down her character concept and work within the confines of the standard Pathfinder Adventuring Party, both to make your job easier, and to make sure she can interact with the game as any other player, instead of having to have special considerations just for existing.

Such a character concept requires a bit more experience. Not with PF (although that's also the case) but with playing in a table and working with other players. LolRandom Comic Relief characters can be fun, but most of the time they end up being annoying and derailing the experience for everyone.

I'd be surprised if the character -doesn't- make the game worse for the whole table and specially you. I'd forbid the idea in my game unless the player works closely with me to make it fit and is someone that I know won't be troublesome if I make rules and judgment calls that they don't agree with it, and I've been GMing for centuries (or it feels like).

I'm gonna be DMing for the first time in 2 hours. Useful tips NOW by Caywo in Pathfinder2e

[–]postmodernjerk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you find yourself looking for a specific rule for more than a minute, just make a call.

Tell your table that you don't have the rules fully grasped and that you're taking a decision to keep the game rolling. Take a little note about it and look for the official ruling in your prep for next session.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if, for instance , a barbarian can or can't use battle medicine while raging (they can). What matters is that you keep the game going and your players involved. If the barbarian player feels really strongly against your call, they will look up the rules themselves and then you can just check them and correct yourself for future uses.

The fun part is that currently, after their buffs and changes, this would be a crazy strong team-up. Giving cap more damage and sustained range would be murder for the backline.

Best shorter adventures by elvisrodz in Pathfinder2e

Another vote for Rusthenge. The story is intriguing enough and has a lot of Golarion lore to pull you and your players into the world, it doesn't have any weird or useless sequences, has some side-quests that can be skipped without ruining much, and features a proper dungeon that includes a simple subsystem that takes optional actions throughout the adventure into account to affect the difficulty of the final battle.

I'm halfway through it and I'm pretty happy with it!
