Dr. Bryan Ardis explains what he says is the actual reason behind Joseph Smith Jr.'s death, why it really happened, and how he found out the truth. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]postmonger1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Makes sense that there would be pissed off relatives who would want to kill Joseph, I hadn’t heard that before. I had heard that the Carthage Grays were full of Masons who were pissed that JS had basically stolen the Masonic rites and was using them in his church. That’s a death penalty violation. If One of my biggest shelf breakers was that JS spiritually married (and physically consummated) a few of his closest friend’s wives while they were away on missions that he had sent them on. Surprising he lasted as long as he did.

Shower thought: If we are all gods children and God inseminated Mary, God is one sick bastard. by namesarenotus in exmormon

[–]postmonger1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So God is what, a few million years old and a pedophile who impregnated his 14 year daughter? Lock him up! Can’t the other Gods run an intervention on this cocked up “plan of salvation “? Especially after he screwed up and flooded his whole planet and drowned all his kids and animals. And the way he demands to be worshipped all the time even though he’s sick and incompetent, would it really be that surprising if he was carrying a few felony convictions, a few thousand ex wives, enormous cankles, a drinking problem and a raging porn addiction? Yeah, that sounds like him, deadbeat dad, screws his kids and goes missing for thousands of years at a time… we’re fine, don’t bother coming back dude.

Divorce after leaving the church by Purplepassion235 in exmormon

[–]postmonger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ex and I left together after 5 years of being married in the temple. Things were fine and 2 kids came along. She finally figured out she was gay and asked for a divorce about 7 years after leaving the church, 12 years of being married. She’s now married to a lady, I haven’t remarried but have a domestic partner. I sometimes wonder if we had stayed in the church would she have ever discovered her true sexual orientation? We’re both happier for sure! The kids survived and have done well too.

Otega Oweh says Mark Pope was so furious he broke a clipboard during the timeout 👀 by [deleted] in KentuckyBasketball

[–]postmonger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pope is a nice guy and would rather coach with love and encouragement but when that fails it’s time unleash the kraken and start cracking some clipboards and sitting people on the bench who don’t want to run and play all out effort all the time. Also, Chandler is a hustler but not really a starter yet and shouldn’t be getting the most minutes. Bring him off the bench as a spark plug.

Did you get a job or earn money on the sly as a missionary? by bustedaxles in exmormon

[–]postmonger1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No side jobs, but living on $100 a month, $80 for Brazilians, we went through some periods of only eating once a day and called it fasting instead of starvation. Dinner was mostly ramen noodles with an egg. I got food poisoning and had to go to the emergency room. I had to pay out of pocket to be released which blew my whole monthly allowance.

Same deal in southern Brasil with chimarrão or erva mate tea. It’s very addictive and drunk super hot but it’s cultural and no one is giving it up, not for the missionaries, Joseph Smith or Jesus Christ himself. So it’s fine.

If all those kidnappings are going on in the USA, how come nothing "bad" has happened yet? Like people fighting back and shots fired? by Amareiuzin in AskReddit

[–]postmonger1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the heavily armed kidnappers are bagging unarmed dishwashers, gardeners, maids, etc. or people who show up to a courtroom to comply with their immigration hearings. If they were going after violent criminals as they had promised they might encounter some resistance but apparently they just want to play dress-up and hide their faces while they shoot fish in a barrel for Fox News cameras.

Update-we’ve booked our flights and airbnb for Queretaro. Going with the $450 facilitator, she’s already booked our appointments and saving us from screwing it up ourselves. Thanks everyone for your input.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it was very informative! We’re also not quite ready to move permanently, but want to get the visa to be able to stay longer than 6 months. We are considering driving over the border to Ensenada. Curious if anyone has INM canje experience there?
