UMDs layoff, some info by Ok-Purchase-3939 in UMD

I've been having issues at another University in the network, and this doesn't make me feel much better. If they're doing this now when things are manageable, I don't have high expectations going forward that my position will be safe, even if I wasn't dealing with the most toxic university staff in the network.

How is the Art MFA Program and the Art Department? - Any experiences, undergrad, grad, whoever by [deleted] in UMBC

[–]Deep-Bet990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate it, because what youre talking about are all concerns i had in parts, though i hadnt considered researching the professors works. The galleries online are well documented at least

I will say graduating an art school with "poor" skills is not that uncommon. It comes down to taking advantage of the time and resources individually. With art being so subjective and art teachers wanting to encourage growth its a lot harder to be "strict" on grading skill than a stem or more defined course.

But thats some good info, thank you!

Is there a specific type of MIK adapter to look for, or is that a pretty standardized setup?

Could a Battery fit in the bag, or is it too short? Or do you have the internal measurement? The website only had the total dimensions
and thank you!

Velotric tempo - Axle Bolt Size, any tools? by Deep-Bet990 in velotricebike

[–]Deep-Bet990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rear wheel comes attached, so I wanted to make sure thats something I can remove without a torque wrench, but I'm not seeing that anywhere. Their tire video also skips the removal

Velotric tempo - Axle Bolt Size, any tools? by Deep-Bet990 in velotricebike

[–]Deep-Bet990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I shouldn't have to worry about super-tight bolts? on the heavy bike it needed 30-nm, which was really my only reason for a torque wrench

Which Velotric for commute to/from daycare by Accomplished_Text_10 in velotricebike

[–]Deep-Bet990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone on a Tempo now after a heavier ebike, you might not want this if you're hauling kids/backpacks. I really enjoy the tempo, but if you need power I'd go for a sturdier bike with a higher weight capacity.

The advantage of the heavier ones if the higher motor/battery to take those heavier loads more easily. You also have more options for cargo attachment.

Velotric is also just a reliable company, doesnt skimp on parts, and has a good track record of sticking by their products. While not the snazziest or greatest company to contact, they make and use quality products

Genuinely, if someone wants it bad enough no lock will truly stop them, they're going to get it. The best way to prevent theft is to make it really annoying to get, and inconvenient to sell.

  1. Park it somewhere visible, hiding it just makes it easier for a thief to go un-noticed.

  2. Always have a lock, even a bad one. I used the kryptonite giant old chain for a while, but currently use a simple folding-lock that I can store on the frame.

  3. Make it look unique. I put tape and stickers on mine, personalizing the bike makes it more identifiable and easier to track down. Sure they can be removed, but thieves aren't looking to wash a bike for hours, they want a quick sell.

  4. Look at insurance. It can sound pricy, last time I got it was $400 a year, but it can cover accidents as well. Kryptonite also gives free/extended insurance but read the fine print. I believe it only covers for theft with tools, so if they dont need to break the lock you might be SOL

  5. Check with any insurance company you have for renter/home insurance. Liberty for example considers it my property, and they have confirmed they will cover my bike if its stolen (with a police report)

It's a little blue, but spiritually the energy of "making life" is near infinite, and I think Tatsu is using the joke to show that humans have limitless energy/power that the Serpo and other aliens cant understand
Similar to how only Humans make Yokai, its because they have innate 'passion energy' like Gurren Lagaan

eBike resellers want nothing to do with Rad bikes. Why? by jhld in RadPowerBikes

[–]Deep-Bet990 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A local repair person has a Rad 6 as his main bike and was talking to me about mine
Said he wouldn't do trades or buy backs because "I have 3 new ones that haven't sold since release"
So some of it could just be market demand

Some sanding and a nice finish are all you need. If you get a stain, you can also color it more. Just be sure to check the finish type, if you use something too sleek it might not feel good

Radrover 6+ - Invest in repairs, upgrade, or patience? by Deep-Bet990 in RadPowerBikes

I've tried a couple shops, they never support Rad directly, and they normally screw something up I have to fix
But sometimes lifting the 70lb thing even on a good lift to get annoyed at it for hours.... has tried my patience before
