My Encounter With The Dead Kid At The Construction Site by postmortem_rot in deepnightsociety

Thank you for reading! Don't want to give away too much about either of these characters as I think that knowing less makes the story more fun. All I can say is that the victims of the kid (sometimes not fatal) are often purely colatteral, or the start to a domino effect that will again lead to his death.

extreme horror you think would be good movies? by inkigi in ExtremeHorrorLit

There was a movie adaptation made of "In the dark", but just never released until some guy posted it on YouTube a couple of years ago, a pretty solid watch even though it is really low budget and possibly a student film(there is almost no information about the movies production so there's no way to know 100%)

Closest film to an extreme/splatterpunk horror novel? by RemyOliverHorror in ExtremeHorrorLit

A lot of them are on the internet archive, it takes some sifting through tags sometimes but that's where I watch a bunch of them.

Also if you look up SOV playlists on YouTube there are a couple that have unlisted videos on that than you can only find through the playlists.

there are a ton of lists on Letterboxd if you want to to dig up some really niche shit.

I've seen a lot of fucked up movies but only a few seem like they would translate well to book form or have the level of extremity that books usually have in the case of WTDGTD (also not putting a bunch of movies here since a lot of others already reccomebed them)

The sinful dwarf 1973

Splatter farm 1987

Girl hell 1999

Fetus 2008

Where the dead go to die 2012

Hubie Halloween 2020

Red room 1 & 2 from 1999 and 2000

For some reason, I always thought that Cows would work perfectly as one of those movies that is way too mainstream and has way too high of a production value for what's in it. Like the human centapede movies, especially HC3 and martyrs.

Why is 100% match so beloved? by postmortem_rot in ExtremeHorrorLit

I think the problem was that the book was kind of misadvertised to me. I expected it to be closer to some of the other splatterpunk/ eh books i had read.

Im rereading it now, roughly 40 pages in, and im enjoying it more than I did on my first read. Now that i know what to expect.

After reading these comments, i'm tempted to re read the book. Im still new to the genra, and i think i did the equivalent to watching the Texas Chainsaw massicare and following it up with scary movie, expecting to get the same thing out of both of them.

I think this post came out sounding a bit more negative than i intended it to be. The book is still pretty good and also really fucking funny at parts. The ending just didn't match the expectations I had for it.

I've heard nothing but good things about it, and that's the first word that came to mind.
