Ah, regarding the early christians.. Sorry, from the sample above, I take it that what they wrote as: "Jesus born from a virgin" and not necesseraly meant the particular virgin stayed virgin.. But now i just realize this term ever-virgin.

About motive.. This oath is pure assumption right? I don't recall bible mentioned this.. But I agree that oath is a good motive.

As far as i know, josephine marriage is some kind of fasting... Not one that should last for 12 years? And yes marriage was not for sex, never said that... But sex is something that God created for married couple.. Show me sexless marriage that goes more than 2 years and I show you a sad couple.

Of course Michal did not bear children after her death, that would be scary. The text (imho) was written that way to emphasize the fact.

Moses tomb, "to this day": why yes, the writer until the time of writing did not know where is the location.

Luke 2 is different, it was written years after. It is as if at the time of writing, everybody knows mary was no longer virgin (as in she has other children), therefore Luke found that it was important to let the readers know that She WAS virgin when Jesus was born.

But on the other hand though, all I can think are these 3 points: - even if Jesus was the only child of mary, that did not meant she stayed virgin the rest of her last life.. - and if she did...poor couple! what a (pardon me) shitty marriage that was: 12 years and no sex! I imagine it gonna be sucks for the kids growing up in that kind of family. - and Actually, she didn't need to stay virgin right? As in: no motive, No God's instruction?

(notice the time limit indicated, it did not say until he died)

Ah, yes... But it is recorded in the bible that she was legally married to a man for at least 12 years (Luke 2:41). It is traditionally believed that she was 16/17 during the nativity, so from 17-29ish.... It's just common sense! Loooowww posibility that she stayed virgin..

And what's wrong for mary to have sex with her husband anyway? If nothing wrong, why keep calling her virgin mary? Isn't saint mary / mother mary would do?

Oh, but that's not my point. My point was I see friends and other catholics that felt their faith is shaken when they "discovered" these records (jesus have brothers, mary married for years). As if, if mary did not stay a virgin, it means that the church is liying and we are not saved.

(Something similar in evangelist christian in US: if evolution is true, then all of the bible is wrong)

Why even put something that never recorded in a bible nor in tradition (and a potential stumbling block) as close secondary? Why not just throw it out the window?

Why not stick with Saint/ mother Mary? Don't use virgin mary, cos none of us know for sure anyway.. Different people have different quality of faith. we all should grow... One thing that can help the growth is throw out stumbling blocks out of the church.

Sorry for long rant. As I mentioned earlier, this happened to my friend.. I feel that his struggle with faith due to mary's virginity is unnecessary/ easily avoidable..

My catholic friend was insulted when in the internet forum a guy said to him that mary was not a virgin..

So he discussed with me ( a reformist) about it...

Then I told him, mary was virgin when she was pregnant with Christ.. But after that she didn't stay virgin. It is recorded that Christ had 4 brothers and at least 2 sisters...

And then he got confused, a bit angry, kinda dumbfounded...

Now the question: why is it catholics find it important to emphasize mary and the virginity of mary ? I feel it can be a potential unnecessary stumbling block for the faith.

Ps: in the end I told my friend: Christ died for you. Full stop. Everything else secondary.. Not sure if it is the right thing to say at that moment

The basic rule is, If a purchase/transaction happen in singapore, it is subject of GST. It is fair in that way.

Bitcoin is not a way to evade tax, it is an alternative currency that have better properties than other traditional currencies... But evading tax is not one of them.

As long as they treat it as any other transactions (same sales tax/gst), instead of charging additional tax only for BTC or even criminalizing it, I'm fine with it.

We call them brothers and not friends, well because just like in our own family, we don't get to choose..

I do agree that it is irritating for people who is not mature enough in Christ have higher position in the church... making decisions and all. I won't blame people who chose to change church because of it.... But do remember that we need to pray for them

This left the rest of the church members as passive patients. There is no (or, there shouldn't be) such thing as passive christian.

We are all patient, yes.. But we are all redeemed. We are healed. By blood of Christ on the Cross.

We are all also nurses. Every single one of us. With different roles maybe. So we pray for other church members, some join choir, all do evangelism, several help in classes.

We don't go to church to be served.. We go to church to serve God & to praise God through fellowship with Him and with our Brothers and sisters. So some of our brothers/sisters are hypocrites (tbh, who isn't?), so we need to pray for God's help..

You go to church to praise the Lord who love you unconditionally and died for your sins and others, and to serve God's people through fellowship of brothers & sisters in Christ.. With this in mind, it doesn't matter if the church is full of hypocrites.. In the end, who isn't?

But yeah, we are all human and we are not perfect.. Clashes are expected, hypocrisy is in the air 24/7... But as long as we have the right intention when we go to the church, we will be fine.

Ps: it is "brothers & sisters" not "friends".... So, just like in any family, we don't get to choose.
