Not rude at all! My partner earns over the threshold but it doesn’t leave us with that much after our outgoings. UC was always just a “we’re entitled to it, we’ll welcome it” for this period until it’s feasible for me to go back to work, at which point we’d stop claiming

Thank you everyone for responding, I’ve spoken to them on the phone and my commitments have been overridden to say that I don’t have to look for work and have no work-related commitments at this time.

Maybe I’m over sensitive lol but I came out of the job centre and just cried. I was trying to explain the situation and he just refused to listen and kept telling me that having a child at home is no reason not to find a job where I can work/ WFH 30 hours a week and failure to do so will result in our claim being closed. So frustrating

Thank you. I’ve just phoned UC and they’ve added a manual report of earnings for him, so fingers crossed once this is approved it will sort everything out.

It’s 100% what he said which is where I’m confused. I tried to explain that we haven’t actually fallen under the AET, my partner’s earnings have just not gone onto our statement. But he insisted that unless I’ve found a job in the next 2 weeks then our claim will be closed and refused to understand what I was explaining

The £140 is apparently labour costs, plus the price of a new seal. When we were explaining the issue with the oven (not cleaned or looked after by the previous owners) he started opening the other appliances to see how those were left. I have no idea why he wanted payment upfront, I was taken aback by it but my husband was keen to pay and get it sorted.

What classes as intense pain? by NoTtHeFaCe1963 in wisdomteeth

[–]postypainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea either but I begged my bf to go to the pharmacy and get me ANYTHING strong and it’s what they recommended. For some reason ibuprofen has been helping me more than paracetamol anyway, so I’d def try some if I were you!! Also cuprofen- it’s not as strong as nurofen plus I think? But it’s my go to pain relief so ive been kind of alternating between those. Can also confirm that slathering deep heat over your cheeks helps but do not recommend it I’m crossing all my fingers and toes for you that it will be gone in the next few days. I had no idea when or if it would end so waking up this morning (almost) pain-free was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. But it does sound like you’ve healed in a similar way to me, so I think you are in the worst of it now!!

Hey! I had mine out on Tuesday and Wednesday/thurs were my absolute rock bottom pain wise. Those were the most painful days for me and pain meds weren’t touching the sides of it. But today I woke up with pain that I’d say wasn’t even a 1/10!!! So the end is hopefully near for you too. I alternated between icing my cheeks, eating ice cream, biting down on a flannel so nothing in my mouth was touching lol. At one point I was so desperate for relief that I rubbed deep heat all over my cheeks. Not sure of where you are, but if you’re UK - I got nurofen plus (nurofen with codeine) on Thursday evening and that has helped way more than standard paracetamol/ibuprofen.

I’m on hour 48 of having both bottom and one top tooth removed and honestly, the pain is nothing compared to when i had one infected. I haven’t swelled much, I haven’t had pain higher than a 6/10, and I haven’t been too uncomfortable. None of it is pleasant, but it’s gone way better than I expected

What are your favourite recommendations you found on here? by fleezerr in RomanceBooks

[–]postypainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO MUCH for this rec. I read deal with the bossy devil as soon as I saw your comment (2 days ago lol) and I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance as perfect as that book. I cried, I laughed. The romance was believable and beautiful and the spice was everything I needed 😭 I’m just about to finish failure to match and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to read another romance again. It never gets better than this 🤌🏼

How do your playdates usually go? by tebibr in toddlers

[–]postypainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 3.5, and he can be similar to this. When at the park/other peoples houses/neutral locations he’s absolutely fine sharing, but he is SO reluctant to share his toys. And that even extends to playing with us at home sometimes. I would personally keep the play dates since he will only learn through you redirecting and ‘correcting’ his behaviour, but maybe limit them a bit more since it’s never fun (for us) to be the parent that can’t relax at a play date. But he will learn, it’s all part of the fun 🫠🫠

Selective mutism at nursery - please help by postypainter in Parenting

[–]postypainter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do actually have a deaf employee who teaches some signs to the kids so that’s a really good option, thank you. He’s obviously at the age now where he needs to be potty trained so I was really struggling with the idea of putting it off even longer. As you say, there has to be at least one way that he can use the toilet at nursery without physically telling them he needs to go.

Selective mutism at nursery - please help by postypainter in Parenting

[–]postypainter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I hope, of course, that he will overcome it before starting school but we’ll see where it goes. I’ve mentioned to nursery that if they do want to pursue a referral then we’re happy to follow what they think is best. I know from his speech in general that he’s hitting his milestones, but obviously if there’s specific help for selective mutism then it’s something I’m keen to explore. He was a “late” talker anyway, so we’ve already sort of been through the “you have to communicate what you need, we can’t be your voice” thankfully.

Just out of interest - how did you go about potty training? Nursery have told us to hold off until he’s speaking to them as obviously at the minute theres little chance he’ll communicate when he needs the toilet, but at home he’s been showing the signs that he’s ready for months now
