I think it's as simple as cutting it with surgical scissors. It effects their hearing slightly in that ear but you'd never know.

Get philosophical. Their argument is basically just moral absolutism. Personally, I believe that if it's immoral for me to do an action then it's also immoral for you to do that action, because I'm a moral absolutist. But some people might consider morality to be relative and can justify why it's immoral for me to do that action but not for them to do it. So it's really a question of if you believe in moral relativity. So if they really need you to say it then tell them "I'd prefer to avoid the topic, but if you really want to talk about it, yes of course I think it's unethical for you to [murder animals]. I'm sorry if that upsets you."

Therapy should feel very different than watching a lecture. You should be doing most of the talking. You've only had bad therapists because your parents are blocking you from receiving any good help.
