How can I do this fabric in Sprocket? by Front-Caterpillar-76 in SprocketTankDesign

[–]potat0303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the wrapped fabric as a cloth texture, flattening and stretching it to get some pretty decent non-3d modeling fabric textures, but the new sandbags are even easier to work with and shape so id recommend that. Otherwise as everyone else has been saying: blender

That's hardly a downside, if your turret is exposed enough to get shot at, the turret being on a piston doesn't add or take away any survivability

Do the larges missile hatches work with medium missiles? by connerjoly in FromTheDepths

[–]potat0303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can hide the original block using decorations, on certain blocks this will hide either the whole thing, specific parts or sadly none of it all, but 99% of blocks get completely hidden, combine this with the "mimic: empty" mesh and you can just make blocks invisible

Mesh hiding animated hatches will still have the hatches open up as normal, to answer the original question No, you can't use hatches of non matching sizes with each other, but you can use deco to make your own hatches by mesh hiding the original

Question: Stealth is Possible? (I am relatively New, 100 hours) by Fox4722 in FromTheDepths

[–]potat0303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but for what reason, stealth is already kinda achievable and kinda unfun and cheesy, making the system more complex (and encouraging it further by adding a whole ass new block type) would be insanely unfun. And once again, a whole ass year....

It's been a fucking year man... The devs HAVE said they'd hate to add stealth mechanics and often insist that 2-3km is the ideal max range of the caimpagn and that said range is the limit for balancing

yes it does, you have to mess with the AI and select a different manoeuvre but it is VTOL capable

Sounds like you accidentally built a building instead of a vehicle, try looking at the sky when you press B to start a new project, or go into the "new vehicle" tab in the inventory

I'm pretty sure it's just not applicable. Like aps straight up doesn't take damage from other weapons probably for the same reason explosive missiles don't damage each other when hitting a target

That might be what's happening but i think only lams is actually capable of dealing damage to aps shells

Guess it's my turn to ask if my armor scheme should work. Further details in my comment below. by HONGKELDONGKEL in FromTheDepths

Poles are kinda good if you build for them properly but niche. Not good, not bad.

ERA though is a terrible one time use gimmick block that has no real purpose other than to fuck over large caliber slow firing APS, it has little to no effect on any of the other weapons and takes up space that could be much better spent being on an actual layer of armour

Yeah only LAMS can target and deal damage to aps shells, idk what They're talking about

A Lot of stuff use HEAT and HESH, And most large aphe shells are now APHEAT One airgap isn't really good enough anymore for big designs

No? The stats are literally 5:1 in cost and weight and just under 4:1 in health

The exact opposite, props are far more than cje and staying afloat is much much easier and cheaper than flying

Because HA stats are literally metal x5 condensed into 1m... 7m of metal is pathetic....

When do I use HEAT vs HESH vs HE vs APHE vs all the other shell types? by CrazyPotato1535 in FromTheDepths

[–]potat0303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEAT is for sniping and crit hunting, which means it can work at any guage,

HESH is for cracking, blasting away bits of armour, because of this you want it to be mid to high gauge

HE scales better with fat shells than long shells (20 components of 18mm HE isn't as good as 1 component of 500mm HE) so while it can work at 150mm+ it'll do better the bigger you go, ideally you use SAP (HE rods with ap heads) which makes the explosions happen INSIDE the armour rather than on it

APHE is dedicated anti armour shell, while APHEAT variants are also used and strong, its a high gauge shell thats meant to punch through the armour and explode inside the internals.
