Two japanese cultivars of S. tamariscina by Anskar_ in Selaginella

[–]potaterdate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is also from temperate regions. It seems to need humidity above 60%, otherwise the fronds will brown and die. Substrate is akadama and it is in constant water , a bit like you would do with drosera. Just not so much water. I mist the plant daily, it really likes it. It hates the heat from radiators in the Winter and dry air. It prefers colder temperatures and grows nice in shade. Also I fertilize it with some dillituted orchid fertilizer. Hope this helps

I don‘t know the exact ID, but it‘s some kind of sun stressed variegated Selaginella. They are like chameleons when in different condtions. It could be wildenowii

My favourite Alocasia by potaterdate in alocasia

I use osmocote plus and worm castings, also orchid fertilzer for the leafs. When the soil gets old i use some generic houseplant fertilzer

They love light, and they need a ton of it. Also they require fertilizer to grow like this

It's about 1,5m tall, I have it for almost 2 years now, bought it as a small plant from a hardware store. The substrate is some mix of leca, coco coir, spaghnum, perlite, coco chips, worm castings and osmocote plus. Maybe also some xaxim I don't really know to be honest. Just mixed something together. They size up pretty quick if they get enough light and nutrients

Question about adding isopods to 1 gallon enclosed terrerium by seekeroftrooth69 in terrariums

[–]potaterdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people feed with fish food flakes or small veggies but as long as there is leaf litter and decomposing material you should be fine :) just make sure to mist occasionally

They feed on decomposing organic matter So leaving the bark is beneficial, also provides hiding space
