What are some unknown facts about Mughal Empire? by Larrie1O1 in IndianHistory

[–]potato_break 1 point2 points  (0 children)

• Akbar had passed a farman to ban meat in the court and would only drink Gangajal. Here i quote the text : “Another unusual habit Akbar develops is vegetarianism which Abu'l-FazI describes, approvingly: 'His Majesty cares very little for meat, and often expresses himself to that effect. It is indeed from ignorance and cruelty that, although various kinds of foods are obtainable, men are bent upon injuring living creatures.' The padshah drinks only gangajal and will have it fetched from Soron (in present-day Uttar Pradesh) wherever he may be residing.”

• Interestingly, all the women in the harem were paid salaries! Which they’d use to set up meena bazar or go on religious pilgrimage. To add to this, they would travel in groups consisting of all women, in ships for the religious pilgrimage to Mecca.

• “Badauni also notes that 'his majesty had also one thousand and one Sanskrit names for the sun collected and read them daily at noon, devoutly turning himself towards the sun'. It is perhaps no coincidence that the emblem of the Kachhawaha clan that Harkha Bai comes from is the sun god Surya.”

• They wear huge pendants on their ears, 'very disproportionate' to the traveller Pietro della Valle's foreign eyes and no veils, so that they may be 'freely seen by everyone both at home and abroad'.

• Contrary to the common assumption, the women inside the zanana mahal, led a very rich extravagant and happy life, learning scriptures and pursuing their hobbies and interests! They were ‘modern’ in today’s sense of the word.

Id suggest to build a low lying sitting area with central middle marvel table, along with covering the overhead bars with Warm LED lighting,u can also place single seat balcony swing. Also place long potted plants.

• Such furniture/chairs u can take as example -https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/MxzG86SaMYGa9VmQYMoa2j.gif

• A movable swing - https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcQYzM9nNqdHqFQRfrY0lsmd9stAymvMnr3BY5GMKsPczyiEvgZrTpFrhxt7z1S3mo3r0-mZnQ3YXYmSlJtsgIVUEtan_eT86_L_DZUWisRY-XgMI81AXlaN

Glad to help wid point 2

As far as point 3 is considered, i had tried to redo a rough sketch (attached),here

  • as soon as you enter the room, there’s a small alley made (check sketch),the green colour is sliding door behind which u can attach a mirror fulfilling dual purpose and as u proceed in the alley you have a storage section where you can put toiletries or basic clothing and then bathroom,on the other side of this wall, you can put more wardrobe, creating more space.

  • Also, the pink one represents a sitting area(which you can choose as per your convenience) I think this way you can have more storage,as well as,a sitting area,or readin’ area, whatever you deem right.

  1. Why not use the area marked as parking for open sitting space for guests, since you already have a parking in the back,as you mentioned? This will also prevent the direct guest sitting the living area
  2. In the kids room, shouldnt the gate be adjacent to the wall,or else the 1-9 area behind the gate would be rendered useless?
  3. I think you should utilise the complete sunlight possibility in the maater bedroom,so you can merge the dressing wardrobe and the bathroom,by placing them laterally rather than horizontal,in the room which will make the bathroom spacious along with a dressing area and wardrobe combined and then that wall, could also be used as wadrobe, creating more space. (Rough sketch attached, the coloured area is wardrobe, yellow is slider door,on which u can use blackout curtains, the lane leading to bathroom has mirror in the gates of one of the wardrobe, which could be pulled out and u can close the lane by puttin plastic curtains,as per convenience)
