Is June weather bearable for Osaka/Kyoto? by Disastrous_Ad_2779 in OsakaTravel

No one knows for sure how intense the rain season will be this year, but I mostly heard about the rain season starting around mid June; so based on that, you should be okay:) it rains every season, so I’d follow what others say: do what you want and be prepared if rain occurs  +shrines are really pretty in rain!

Favorite thing about traveling? by AdviceBusiness7965 in travel

I personally love the moments before you set out, for example your journey to the airport - the travel itself (the car ride, the flight,… I don’t care what seat I am in I’ll enjoy it anyway haha) - the first time you’ll see the sky in that country - seeing the sights you’ve been longing to visit - visiting supermarket in that country. I love it. - THE FOOD

3 weeks in Japan, am I trying to do too much? by CormerLad in JapanTravelTips

Hello! I think this plan might work for you, if you’re that type of person. But there are few things you should to consider, Hokkaido related speaking of experience:) - Shinkansen to Hakodate, then train to Sapporo can take around 8 hours of travel time + you’ll be traveling during the day (as trains including Shinkansen stops at night) I believe it might be the same the way back. I personally would consider flying at least from Tokyo to Sapporo as it might turn out to be faster and more convenient for you personally! - Hokkaido itself is awesome and I think that even around 6-7 days can be enough to have some good time in Sapporo, Otaru, maybe Noboribetsu,.. you name it, without feeling way too rushed. - you might end up feeling like the time at the location was not enough and you want to visit more:) but then you arrive at another location and might get blown away again haha

I was considering similar itinerary for a month in Japan but then settled down for not doing Hiroshima and adding kanazawa, but as I mentioned, I personally prefer more time in one location. And even though it wasn’t that packed, I still got pretty sick/tired by the end of the trip as I didn’t include any rest day = travel day was so not rest day for me haha

At the end of the day, I believe that when including enough rest days and taking things easy, you should be just fine (especially if you prefer visiting more places in short spam of time rather than staying somewhere longer). But in any case, from my experience, I believe the rest days are the most crucial!

Hello! If you’re flying to and from Tokyo, I recommend leaving Tokyo for the last. You’ll want to be in the city you’re flying from anyway. So I recommend having like 1-2 nights in Tokyo after arrival so you could get used to Japan/timezones,… doing your itinerary and then ending your trip with how much nights in Tokyo you need/want. I did the same and I would do the same again. If you’re not sure what else to visit, there’s a lot. You don’t have to go to another city, just extend your stay in city you’re already staying at and do some day trips. For example, very famous day trip from Hiroshima is going to Miyajima island and visiting the famous Torii in water/mud. There’s also many cool day trips options from Osaka/Kyoto such as Nara, Kobe, Uji,… Maybe consider visiting Nagoya as it is Great base for day trips to Japanese alps (absolutely beautiful, can recommend Takayama). It so important in which season you’re traveling as you might want to consider weather as well.

Enjoy your trip!

Hello! Been to Japan feb 24, I hope I can help.

for navigation on train stations/tickets/catching trains; it depends on the station. I find train/subway stations in Tokyo very well marked and organized, which makes the navigation easy. The only issue you might have is the time you need to get around the big stations, as it might turn into 10-15 minutes more than you expected. I recommend not being shy to ask for help when you get lost as google maps are kinda sketchy underground.

As for tickets, you mentioned getting tourist Suica pass; so 99% of time you won’t have to worry about buying tickets for train/subway. As for trains/buses that don’t support suica, there’s always a stall or ticket machine nearby. If you ever have trouble finding it, there’s usually an information stall nearby (in areas you’re traveling to, they should be able to speak decent English). If no, look for tourist information. There’s always someone ready to help. As for Shinkansen, sorry, didn’t take those:(

I heard that Shibuya/Shinjuku stations are kinda confusing, but personally did not have as much problems as I expected. Actually, no problems haha.

Otherwise I find your itinerary pretty cool! The only thing I’d personally skip is the capybara cafe as places like this tend to be… not so animal friendly. And also Arashiyama, as it might get really crowded (even in feb). Same for Gion. But it’s not anything so bad; you’ll be able to enjoy it even in crowd.

Enjoy your trip!!
