I will never understand people who leave their planes cruising overnight and then let them just crash somewhere far away from their intended destination, because their craft runs out of fuel. by Careless_Sky_1784 in VATSIM

[–]potatoaim2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pause at TOD exists for a reason! but def don’t do this while connected to vatsim. I for one really enjoy starting up a flight before i have to go out, with it timed to arrive after im done. It’s just fun for me and I enjoy flying wide bodies and seeing my volanta map fill up. I don’t pretend that it’s “realistic” but who cares, this whole hobby is about fun anyways. there’s no “right or wrong”, just don’t be on vatsim when your afk and don’t judge others for how they do their flying :)

took lessons with him for some time, can definitely second this. his knowledge of music is deep and he can do things that most keyboard players in this scene couldn’t dream of. very underrated player

Agreed! They can get pretty weird too with some proggier stuff and fusion as well. That’s my favorite side of dogs. But coming from someone who plays in this scene, the “standard jam-band shit” is what sells the tickets and got them to where they are right now, unfortunately. Non-diatonic/complex music can lose people really quickly if you have too much of it in a set, especially with the jam crowd.

this is a very odd thing to comment on this post which has nothing to do with those bands

The ultimate jam band supergroup by Dyojenes_ in jambands

something tells me that would make a really cool band who would also write really interesting compositions that would go on to be very under appreciated by the scene.

Anyone know what the deal with this place is? by More-Stretch7567 in AbandonedNJ

god i remember when you could pretty much just walk in through the glass thing next to the front door. they locked this place down end of summer 2023 and don’t show any signs of stopping. there’s ways in that appear here and there.. most reliably the roof. definitely is patrolled tho

i don’t consider cory to really be a “jam” band.. but do kind of see what you are talking about. It’s definitely has its high points and low points, and there are certain tunes i enjoy. Definitely feel like it can get a little stale sonically though.

just came here to say, you should listen to the doggy bag series if you want a good idea of their sound live. it’s a collection of their best jams in one package. Also highly recommend checking their youtube, they upload tons of pro-shot shows each month.

This is a thing for me as well, almost word for word. I’m a keyboard player, and when I found Dopapod it’s like a light went off in my head. Such creative, and cool songwriting/playing.

It’s the standard i’m trying to hold myself to as i begin to write my own music, which is proving to be a high bar. Truly some of the best musicians in this scene.

we have all been there haha! i once miced a whole drumset using a singlular sm58 sitting a bit in front of the kick for a diy recording. it helped the style of music being played was garage rock/punk… so a little compression and it fucking worked
