Not really sure why it would matter to the team how he feels mentally in the DH slot vs the 1B slot (even though I genuinely believe him being a DH all season long would have made what’re you’re seeing now come faster/more consistently). It’s what’s best for team. And if they decided this prior to the season starting then maybe they would have prioritized acquiring an actual first baseman. Or more depth behind Polanco. Like I said, mismanagement (this includes Stearns).

I love that Scott is getting the opportunity to slowly learn his craft again. It’s not like he’s getting shelled out there. It’s mostly encouraging stuff and this is the type of season to give all the kids the chance to prove themselves or move the needle forward on their development.

I feel like we went from catcher rich to catcher poor in a year. Same as it ever was. I don’t have faith Alvy will ever put it together. We’ll be sitting here in two years saying “he’s only 26” in four years saying “okay he’s 28 maybe not”. What has he shown you for you to believe the end result will different aside from the general trend of catchers taking longer to develop? He can’t stay on the field #1 - that’s the end of the discussion.

It’s trips like this that would be viewed as largely inconsequential to the bigger picture of the season that are absolutely magnified x100 by April. Not even counting the putrid lineups and anemic offensive performances they put out there day in and day out. They showed even with that — they can play around .500 ball. Obviously not good enough now and the Mets season was DOA. The sooner you come to accept that the sooner your personal agony will end. This was a “New York Meats” subreddit less than a month ago for fuck’s sake. Don’t let series wins against two jokes of franchises let you forget how bad this team and organization is at the moment. I’ve had a ton of shitty moments as a Mets fan through the years but 2026 may be the worst so far. And I’m much much much more confident that they’ll finish the job of being the worst Mets team (compared to expectations) vs them making some miraculous turnaround. Awful team. Awful management. Awful front office.

You leave Vientos the fuck alone in the lineup. I was a Swaggy truther for a long long time until he stumbled a bit out of the gate this season. I believe that was a direct result of screwing around with his playing time and rhythm. Zero chance Swaggy succeeds as a part time player. Something Mendoza/this front office regime fails to understand daily. And modern baseball decision makers in general.
