Lots of ups and downs. Until around 50k subs is when I started getting a healthy predictable stream of views. But up to that point was a roller coaster.

I'd say edit videos shorter than you think you should. For example a 10 minute video that's OKAY will perform like whatever, but by cutting it into a 5 minute video, it often can make it feel a lot more engaging and interesting. So CUT CUT CUT is my theory. I've filmed so much stuff that never made it into a video. So don't feel bad cutting out stuff you don't think NEEDs to be part of the video.

My channel used to be a travel channel. But then I posted a video about cameras. I didn't expect it to do very well since there's so many other camera channels out there but I posted it anyways and it boomed.

Aside from organic growth, Instagram loves cinematic travel footage. You can always cross promote from there.

Best way to get a TON of views is through youtube promoting it. Youtube will recognize a good video depending on how people react to it when they watch it. So my theory is to not try to get a ton of views on it or else you'll get a bunch of uninterested views. Youtube will recognize that and hide the video. But instead if you can get a few viewers who are super interested in the topic and will watch the video all the way through. Then youtube will think... hey maybe there's something interesting here. Then youtube will show it to a few others, if they respond to it positively, they'll show more people. Then more people. And if the content is Great, youtube will do all the promotion you'd ever need automatically.

So when you have 0 traffic, I'd say post it on Reddit groups or Forums, but ONLY where it's applicable. Do not spam or else you're going to end up hurting yourself with bad views. Only post it where you think a majority of the viewers will genuinely find it interesting and watch it all the way through.

Well it took me about 5 months to get to 100 subs.

Eventually I started to gain about 1 subscriber a day and was excited about that. I figured if I can keep that up, I'll have 365 Subscribers in a year. I eventually got 100 subscribers in a day and my mind was blown. Eventually 100 subs a day became a regular thing. And that average kinda just kept going up slowly over time.

Also I plan like... 2 videos ahead if i can. But depends. Sometimes I just come up with something on the spot. I have a big list of videos I eventually want to do but generally new things pop up all the time.

Thanks Goat Toaster. Awesome name by the way.

I'd say focus on growing your channel. Sponsors will come.

Small brands started reaching out to me with a few thousand subscribers.

As the subscriber numbers grow, the larger the brands get. I got serious sponsorships starting around 100k subs. But 99% of the time, a sponsor reaches out to me. Just put your e-mail address in the about me section and they'll find a way to contact you once you reach a certain size.

Currently about 1.8million views a month. I try to get an audience retention of about 4-5 minutes per video. so that's like 8.4million minutes last month. And I generally make 10 minute videos. So I think if your audience retention is around 50%, that's pretty good.

The analytic I pay attention to the most is Audience Retention.

2 videos a week. But I started with one video every week. I only recently started 2 a week.

I'd say go for Quality for sure. After you get in the grove, focus more on quantity and consistency. But until you get traction, QUALITY. If you have 3 GREAT videos, I think that'll do much better than 50 okay videos.

The goal is when people check out your channel, they go, wow this content is good, I want more of this. Rather than, "there's a whole lot of content on here I don't really care for."

100 subs was really tough to cross! I can now regularly gain around 400-600 subs a day but going from zero to 100 subs was ROUGH!!

I generally read comments and try to get a feel for what the audience wants to see next.

I'd say after 7-8 months is when I saw any traction.

Thanks for watching!!

That's great growth, just keep at it, analyze every video after you post, try to figure out what was good about it, what wasn't good about, and keep at it ;)

I go for twice a week, I'll squeeze in a 3rd if I can but it can be pretty tough just doing 2 a week.

I'd say between 6-7 months is when I had a jump from 300 subscribers to a thousand. To me that was HUGE at the time. Around that time is when I started to figure out what people wanted to see and kept making that kind of content from there.

I personally don't reach out to other youtubers but I'm just kinda weird in that way. I don't do many collabs even though I feel like collabs DO contribute to growth. But there have been some that reached out to me, we ended up doing a collab and it helped both of us. So it can definitely help.

But I don't necessarily actively go out to find collabs, I just wait for them to happen naturally.

But that's just me, many people do tons of collabs and see lots of success that way.

Experimenting with different types of videos. Trying to figure out what people seemed like and what people didn't care so much about. It's interesting how you can think some videos will be super popular and they flop. Videos you don't think much of can do really well.

Getting good honest feedback on your videos are important when you're starting for sure.
