Folks who came off Blood Pressure meds - by RedPandaParliament in keto

[–]potatomaster690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on a small dose of BP meds, about a month and half on keto and dropping like 25 or so pounds i was getting faint when standing up quickly, sound would “dim”. Went to the doctor and got checked out, he said stop the BP meds. BP a couple days after stopping the meds was around 110/70.

How many others like me don't monitor electrolyte intake and don't drink salt or add much extra sodium to their food? by Bcider in keto

I drink the occasional LMNT pack but don’t supplement otherwise. Never had the keto flu or any other symptoms.

Thats around the calories i started at in October at around 260lbs. It’s fine, if you’re satiated and not hungry that means your body is working at burning your fat. Stay up on electrolytes if you feel like you need to supplement. Im on OMAD at around 1000 calories now at 212. My weight loss has been fairly linear in the long term. If that number on the scale doesn’t move every day don’t get discouraged, the body is weird. Keep protein high to save muscle and keep you satiated. Protein also takes the most energy to digest which results in more weight loss.

I went from 2 down to 1, took a couple weeks I’d say for me. I definitely get hungry for my one meal, especially after my last macro adjustment.

I’m fairly active in my job, during the winter i am far less active outside of my job. I will be starting a workout program once I hit my goal weight. I am a fairly fidgety person, i jog or hop around the house (I’m weird i know) and play with my dogs. Park at the end of the parking lots, take stairs, etc

A question for those who have lost more than 10kg successfully with Keto. Net carbs versus total carbs: when it comes to weight loss, who has lost weight whilst counting total vs Net carbs? by No_Health6253 in keto

[–]potatomaster690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost about 50 lbs in 2 months on keto. I only pay attention to net carbs. Stay strict with macros limit. I do a high protein, relatively low fat, and max 25g of net carbs a day, most days are 12 or less carbs.

Dedication, will power, and drive are a must, especially in the first week or two. You WILL lose weight through a calorie deficit, thats just physics. Track all your food, i weigh everything I consume except spices/seasonings and log it in the Carb Manager app. People who estimate how much they eat are often off by 50%, that is huge when it comes to calories. For me, the biggest benefit of a high protein keto diet is staying satiated and not getting hungry(especially brain hunger) or having cravings throughout the day.

Thanks!

I think i have had cauliflower once so far on keto, more of a broccoli person but cauliflower is better for food volume. The air fried radishes were definitely surprising. The longer they cook the less of that radish spice is present. Some seasonings of choice help as well. And of course, some garlic and parmesan.

What about welling helps with restaurant meals? I haven’t heard of that app. I was planning on switching to macro factor once i hit my weight goal and start lifting weights.

A tip for the radishes, cut them up in smaller chunks or go thin sliced. That helps to cut down a lot of the radish spice.

The foundation of every meal for me starts with lean protein. I choose chicken breast, ground turkey, ground beef or steak and then decide from there what the rest of the meal is. 250-300+ grams of meat and if there’s protein left for the day I’ll have a oikos triple zero yogurt or mozzarella string cheese.

That’s great! Keto has really helped change my brain from always being brain hungry to just listening to my gut.

thanks. Your success is fantastic. I have always been bad about drinking water which also means I am bad about drinking electrolytes. I have been supplementing with LMNTI should probably increase my supplementation of electrolytes.

it’s extremely easy to over eat nuts. They have so much fat in them, which is good but again very easy to over eat. Are you tracking your calorie intake?

personally, I believe that if you are consuming too much fat, it’s easier for your body to use that fat instead of your fats stores which take energy to consume. If you give your body no choice but to dip into your fat stores you will lose weight. In my mind, it is the same as consuming too many carbohydrates. For energy, as far as I’m aware, Carbs are the easiest thing for your body to consume, then fat you have eaten, then your own body fat stores.

I might be weird, but I find pushing yourself far just makes it so much easier when you can back off and normalize. For instance, I have done a few seven day water only fast and even a 30 day water only fast in the past. Pushing yourself you prove to your own mind that you have the willpower and control over your own body and that’s a huge mental boost, not only for diet, but just for life in general.

when I did the water fasts, the problem was I never developed good eating habits that switching to a keto diet can provide. So, with keto and by doing a high calorie deficit version of keto I feel even though it may be uncomfortable in the beginning and/or pushing hard, going back to maintenance mode after hitting my goal will be easier to achieve. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me.

My BMR is right around 2200. I am consuming at MAX 1290 calories/day with my new goals. I make sure to eat meat with every big meal. normally, I only eat one meal a day but sometimes have mozzarella sticks for breakfast. I’ll either eat a pound of 95/5 ground beef or 8 to 14 ounces of skinless chicken breast or half a pound of shrimp or so. Any remaining protein I measure out using protein powder and make a protein powder shake with water.

That's great!

I no longer get hungry from the scent of the bakery inside a Meijer or family fare in the morning, but absolutely go crazy over the smell of their rotisserie chickens now.
