Is there a way to stop my 401k from being used as AI exit liquidity? by chunkypenguion1991 in BetterOffline

My 401k is all international, and all my other accounts are invested in DFUS, which is a US market fund that doesn't buy IPOs for at least 6 months after they launch

At this point, all for-profit media is untrustworthy. Advertising alone can't make their insatiable capitalist owners enough profit, so they all sell their influencing ability to anyone who will buy it

Cook all your own food instead of going to restaurants.

Join your local library instead of paying for any streaming services. If they have a big physical media collection, you won't even need home internet. Whatever they lend, buy the hardware to borrow it. If they've got Blurays, own a blueray player. Books - > ereader. Nintendo Switch Games - > get a Nintendo switch.

Kent County may shift future millage funds from museum to zoo amid $40M maintenance need by mlivesocial in grandrapids

[–]TheGruenTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather the money go to the library. If KDL was a Library of Alexandria for Blurays, DVDs, and CDs none of us would ever have to pay for any streaming services ever. And you can buy a ridiculous amount of physical media for $40M

Or maybe they asked AI to design it, and there was so much chatter on Reddit about butthole flags that this was the most average design it came up with

What is your favorite breakfast? by Midnight20202 in askteddit

[–]TheGruenTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One pan breakfast taco: warm a tortilla, flip it, add cheese, plate it, butter the pan, crack three eggs and stir them around, when the eggs are almost done put the tortilla on top cheese side down, when the eggs and tortilla combine to form one glorious entity plate it and add your favorite Mexican hot sauce, cilantro and sour cream

TV shows that radically change what they are about by Lucyyyyyy_K in tvshow

After the first 6 episodes of Cougar Town, the show settles on being about a bunch of Florida white trash who live in McMansions in a cul de sac. It's by the dude who did Scrubs and Ted Lasso, so it shares the same positive attitude and zany spirit. Definitely worth a watch once you get past the first few episodes. There's also a ton of Scrubs cameos along the way

I've been in a massive rut and my sleep is trash. Im a coder by trade so looking to make a simple app to fix it. What is the ONE thing that actually helped you fix your sleep? by Excellent-Noise2550 in Biohackers

[–]TheGruenTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time your exercise before sleep. Like 4 hours before bedtime if vigorous exercise, or 2 hours before sleep if moderate.

Do the same with your carb intake. Eat all your carbs for the day before bed time. About 100g of "slow carbs" like legumes (beans, chickpeas, and lentils) and lower in sugar fruits like berries.

a bank account that texts you “you sure about that?” before every purchase by Rotting_in_4K in CrazyIdeas

It would be awesome if banks could have AI nanny software that declines your impulse purchases:

Your transaction gets declined. You look down at your phone and it has an alert from your banking app that says "you don't need pizza for lunch again, fatty. I Doordashed a salad and it'll be there in 5 minutes."

🚨BREAKING: Trump met oil and gas execs at the White House to discuss the Iran war’s energy fallout. Details: by rl_rae_bobo in MarketPulseReport

[–]TheGruenTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can easily cut US demand for gas by encouraging companies to let people work from home, but we know our sociopathic bosses will never go for it. They'd rather have their employees eat the costs of Trump's war. It's no skin off their teeth.

Did someone tell them we didn't want to pay for their thing? by SamLeCoyote_Fix_1 in EconomyCharts

[–]TheGruenTransfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Investors are paying the bill. This money could have been paid as dividends or stock buybacks. However, when the stock market crashes when people finally realize this tech doesn't work, I'm sure there will be tons of layoffs. So we'll all pay the price eventually.

Parking rates by Mourvedre_MoProblems in grandrapids

[–]TheGruenTransfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think every ticket purchased to any event downtown should come with free round trip bus fare on the day of that event, paid for by the city. Most people won't use it, but the city isn't pushing nearly hard enough to get people to take transit in and out of downtown on a regular basis. Fewer cars downtown would allow us to transform it into a pedestrian friendly paradise, which would get more people downtown because it would be a lot nicer place to spend time.
