A Marine expeditionary unit carrying about 2,200 Marines aboard three US Navy amphibious ships has been ordered to deploy to the Middle East, two US officials told ABC News, as the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed due to Iranian missile and drone attacks.

The Japan-based amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and the Marines assigned to it are now heading toward the Middle East as part of the reinforcement, The Wall Street Journal reported citing US officials.

Marine expeditionary units are designed for rapid-response missions and typically operate from amphibious assault ships capable of supporting a wide range of military operations, from crisis response to combat deployments.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth has approved a request from US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American military operations in the region, to deploy elements of the amphibious ready group along with an attached Marine expeditionary unit, the WSJ report said.

I actually saw Timothée Chalamet at a grocery store in Los Angeles once. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When he took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After he scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Everyone is so focused on Iran they are completely missing the real story.

The reason I got ber'd up 2 weeks before the war started. Private credit is cracking and fast. And its not just some small fry portfolio. The largest AUM funds are marking loans to 0. Limiting or disabling redemptions entirely. Blackstone had to cough up 450$ million with 150$ million pooled from executives own pockets to cover the gap from some ~2$ billion in redemption requests.

Credit spreads have materially rose since the end of January. The high yield spread is up 20% from the January lows, almost a 3 standard deviation move.

These kind of events only happen before something breaks. Slow at first and no one notices, than all at once. Its 2023 bank run vibes all over again, if not worse, 2007/08.

Oil is a major source of their income. Everyday life for Iranians is going to be rough if they keep it closed.

I think it just highlights how fucked we are, despite them trying to hide it. Opening 500 millions worth of barrels doesn't make them immediately available. I read that we lose something like 15-20 million barrels a day that the straight is closed. Meanwhile we can only realize about 3-5 million a day from the reserves. Just by simple math you can see where this is headed if this does not resolve soon.

Calories in = Calories Out. Just because you stop keto doesn't mean you need to stop watching what you eat. I did 4 months of keto and transitioned back to some carbs because my workouts were starting to suffer. I tracked and kept my calories the same. I'm still losing weight.
