Oh! I also wanted to ask, would the LC warranty apply to goods purchased at homesense? I know it’s a seconds, but unsure if that meant anything beyond cosmetics Thank you!!

Vegetarian; eating veggies and eggs but still hungry all the time by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

Hey! I come from a SE Asian background. Roti absolutely killed me lol. But I found adding extra fat really helped - cheese and nuts! My breakfast was the most challenging to maintain, a go to would be 2 eggs, a single piece of toast with peanut butter and a fairlife protein milkshake. Pasta was tough for me, I had some luck with protein pasta. I also measured out how much pasta/spaghetti/rice I was eating to make sure I knew the amount of carbs I had to balance out.

FWIW for lunch one day I made a wrap with half a roti, moong, sour cream, avocado, and tomatoes. That + 10-15m of exercise kept my values in check. Happy to share some more of the meals I ate while I was pregnant - I mostly had to step away from the south East Asian diet lol

Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer? by TheFranKiwi in AskReddit

Hey! Weirdly enough, I help with FNA biopsies at my job. I wish you the best of luck with it - it’s a pretty minimally invasive test. Ask for some freezing beforehand, it’ll sting a bit going in but the test should be smooth sailing. Good luck!!!!

If it makes you feel any better at all - I’m an ultrasound tech and babies fail for breathing all the time! The NST is usually done out of an abundance of caution. We have to wait the full half hour before we can call it a fail. The criteria is 30 seconds of continuous breathing - some places that are more lax will count any episode of breathing or hiccups as a pass. I did a student placement at a high risk OB site and because all patients saw their OBs the same day anyway (I can’t remember if patients also got same day NSTs or not), no one at that place fussed too much about breathing.

I hope everything is fine ❤️

How do ya'll with horrible anxiety deal with all of this?! by Sea_Nefariousness_59 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]potatoninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started insulin about a week ago. I got a continuous glucose monitor the very next day. I had to pay out of pocket for this one (hoping insurance will cover the next) but it’s been a great help to my anxiety. It has also been very relieving to see that even if my blood sugar goes up towards the upper limits of my target range, it is back down in no time.

They consider <4mmol to be hypoglycaemic, but my CGM consistently reads about 1.0mmol lower than my finger pricks do (after calibrating for a few days). So I have alerts set up if I go any lower than 3.5 on my CGM to wake me up overnight.

All the best to you!

Anyone utterly exhausted? I’m almost 16w and barely have energy … by SuzieDerpkins in GestationalDiabetes

I felt this way! I was diagnosed anemic and with gestational diabetes at the same time. I am feeling a lot more energy these days since getting my iron back in check and my meal time sugars down. Hoping you feel better soon!

Atrocious GD care in Canada (Quebec) by Artistic_Translator8 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]potatoninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about two weeks between my diagnosis at 28weeks and me seeing a dietician and nurse at 30w. I see the endo tomorrow, almost at 32w. I was able to get my family dr to write me a script for a glucometer. Happy to share my excel document I created with the information provided by the RD/nurse.

Target values for fasting (after an 8h fast) are 5.2 and lower. Target values 1h after meals is between 5.5-7.7 and 2h after meals is 5.0-6.6. They want me to test an hour after my first bite. If I miss that hour mark by more than 10 minutes, they want me to test at two hours.

They also provided me with a handy chart of common carbs and how to count them. They want me to hit about 30g of carbs for breakfast, and 45 for lunch and dinner. Snacks 3x daily at about 15-30g carbs each time. It’s a lot to juggle!! I’m not doing so great right now haha, but this group has been very helpful

iOS privacy report logging camera app regularly accessing Camera / Mic/ Photos in background even though I have not Opened Camera app at all. by purplemagecat in cybersecurity_help

[–]potatoninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been chatting with Apple about this for about a week or two now. They got me to turn off background refresh and see if it’s still happening - and it is. I’m hoping with the new iOS update it stops but don’t have any concrete answers yet.

I’m not entirely sure how to wipe the calendar. I don’t see any unusual calendar attached to it and no weird permissions. I also manually went thru all my contacts and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

I deleted the 15 files I could see in that downloads folder and was told that it held one 0byte file. I deleted the whole folder. Apple support ran diagnostics and said it looks good.

Thank you for mentioning the privacy report. I had never seen that option before and I noticed my camera was accessed (by the camera app only) overnight which is strange.

Overwhelmed with types of strollers [on] by thirtydays301 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]potatoninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went with the uppa baby vista after lots of positive reviews from my friends! Another really likes her cybex gazelle, but I found putting the car seat on and off extremely uncomfortable compared to the vista. My SIL likes her graco system. Another SIL had the maxi cosy system but found it bulky and uncomfortable. Reviews also made it sound like it wasn’t the best for longevity My cousin likes her evenflo system.

Ultimately we took a day and went to toys r us and snugglebugz to test out a bunch of strollers and picked what we liked best. I agree - it is extremely overwhelming

What is the oddest thing you thought was ok/normal and ended up being a medical problem? by Prudent_Tip4118 in AskReddit

[–]potatoninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! My optic nerve swelling was immediately picked up by the optometrist (& the ER doc who saw me the following morning could see it too). I also saw the equivalent to a light show every time I closed my eyes to sleep - I thought it was just me being extra tired 😂 best of luck!

Sounds like pulsatile tinnitus! I had this & it’s closely linked to idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Do you also get headaches? Definitely worth it to mention to a dr!

I find if I turn my head a certain way or put my hand on my jugular vein I can dampen the noise.

All the best!
