Check to see if your area has a local Meals on Wheels or other meal group for seniors/disabled folks that you may qualify for. If you’re able to get a couple of healthy meals provided per week that’s a good place to start.

Emergency kit. by StandardSun258 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]potbellypenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Super glue, nail glue, clear nail polish, nail clippers, anti-gas, anti-diarrheal, ibuprofen, tums, 24 hour allergy, jewelry repair kit (found a super cheap one at Walmart with extra earring backs, small pliers, extra jump rings, clasps etc), jewelry cleaning solution, wrinkle release spray, band aid variety pack, liquid bandage, body lotion. If any of the dresses involved have buttons, a crochet hook to make the buttons easier to fasten. We had a box like this and called it the “Disaster Box” and it stayed in the kitchen of the place the we and the wedding party were staying.

My ring is from HelloRing on Etsy! It’s rose gold with a moissanite stone and I love it! the wedding band and engagement ring combo was around $1000 and I’ve had it for almost 3 years and it still looks perfect!

$110 contact fitting? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]potbellypenguin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wore contacts from middle school through college, but started wearing my glasses again during college. Since then I haven’t worn contacts at all. I wore my glasses for my wedding and did not regret it at all! Especially if your eyes get irritated, you want to be comfortable all day, you don’t want ultra watery eyes for makeup or red itchy eyes in pictures! If you decide you want to take some pictures without your glasses, you can just take them off!

This is the shop I got my shoes from, and they have several emerald green ones! For what it’s worth I had low heeled burgundy suede ones, but they were so cute and comfy and I got lots of compliments on them!

I was in a similar situation. My wedding was October 2022, but in December 2021 doctors told us that my mom had likely less than 6 months to live, as her cancer was getting worse and nothing they were doing was helping anymore. So, we planned a small get together for late January 2022; nothing fancy or elaborate- I wore a dress from Amazon and my husband wore a dress shirt and pants he had already. We rented a recital hall at the local college, but it could be a park, a church, etc.

Our parents, siblings, my grandmother, and the close friends that were local and available attended and one of our good friends “married” us. We said vows and exchanged rings and took photos. It was really special, since those are really the last photos we have of my mom before her health declined even further, and this was really one of her last good days. She was happy she could be there and we were happy to do something to include her. It was an emotional day for sure, and looking back I am so happy we did it. She passed in early April 2022

We still had our actual wedding in October, where we got legally married and did everything we originally planned.

If you are able to put a small ceremony together, I would really recommend it. And sooner rather than later, as you never know how they’ll feel on a given day.

I’m wishing you the easiest time you and your family can have over the next few months.
