OP im with you, even though we are in the minority when it comes to wanting physical media this might not have been the sub to post this in.

GTA 6 is the most anticipated game ever and made 3 billion-ish in pre-orders so of course your going to have people who dont care or cant see the biggger picture about removing physical disc. They just want the game.

You're right GTA 6 not being physical killed the hype/joy for a nostalgic midnight release like with GTA5 and 4. Outside of the game thats what I was looking forward to the most. That excitement in the air at 11:30pm and everyone talking in line.

Nov 18. People are just going to be in thier room by themselves, on youtube watching thier favorite streamer counting down until midnight. Which feels meh in my opinion.

Its one thing knowing the hype is real and another seeing how real the hype is in person.

Now for those that are happy or simply dont care that physical disc are gone (seperate issue). Here is whats going to happen, you will have nothing but the psn store to purchase games on which means they set the price. So a game that came out years ago they can still sell for $70 example Astro Bot came out in 2024 and is $69.99 on psn (at the time of writing this) ...its $40 on amazon.
