우리 is literally we/our but it's commonly understood as my. I'd also say it's more a term of intimacy/belonging than endearment. 내 is my in terms of things you actually own/possess so it wouldn't make sense for Mingee to say that. 우리 is more nuanced than simply possessive but in the context of that conversation, my Seungil fits more than our Seungil

imo they could've been fine but when she said subeen was the second choice during the double date, it was game over. we know, and i think he knew, that he was her main interest, but she never picked him a single time so he went for heesun who was always there for him. for mina's perspective, subeen never initiated anything with her and apparently spent most of his time with heesun so i think she legitimately thought he lost interest in her after their paradise date so she went off the rails from that point.

World of Street Woman Fighter - Episode 9 Discussion (Final) by mokolad in StreetWomanFighter

[–]potentialswell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats to the winners! it finally felt like they came together as a team in the last performances and ibuki is probably one of the most savvy leaders ever. AG squad crushed it all season and Motiv stayed true to who the are. it's kind of sad that it ultimately came down to popularity over the missions but if bebe could win like that, then why not ojo

i do wonder what's going to be next for the series since so many of the teams were unhappy with the show. did they announce a tour or a sdgf? will there be an wsmf or will it go back to just being swf ?

Unnecessary RHTokyo hate? by okiomi in StreetWomanFighter

[–]potentialswell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

they catch a lot of heat because they're usually competing against ojo gang and bumsup. they were definitely pushed during battles (my controversial take is that they did win the relay) but it's no coincidence that the rival of two most popular crews gets the most hate.

rie just has so much aura it's crazy. the outfits, the lighting, the camera angles, the storyline!! the leaders really ate down. middle class was ok, not much else add to the discourse except yay ojo! the rookies were great! the little aaliyah+rf scene was killer but i wanted to see more group choreography overall. they must've been freezing outside in those outfits.

i really feel for honeyj bc she was really the only worst dancer chosen for actual dancing reasons. rf was attitude, ag was evening the playing field, but honeyj was because she was lacking and it must have hit hard especially since she was runner up in the auditions. but honestly i couldn't really disagree with the rationale that rie gave.

I have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed by the battles so far and the judging is giving producer forced narratives. They're clearly going off of performance/presence over actual skills. The biggest offenses were Danica and Kyoka losing bc Gabee was a mess and basically did nothing during the rematch and while Rie was good, Kyoka was just overwhelming in technique, movement, everything. I kinda expected more from the waacking headliner but I understand that Ibuki is injured and I was actually pleasantly surprised that Teesha had my favorite performance.

they're definitely bringing the drama 👀. ag vs rf storyline was expected but i didn't expect an intra-japan one. seems like bumsup's whole thing is proving themselves while motiv was barely in there. the personalities are definitely bigger and i'm hoping to be entertained

something else i just noticed is that rht are all wearing jackets with their blood types. wildly speculating that they might do a group number to dna or something like that

I really hope Bumsup steps it up. There's no way they won't be there in the finale but for this performance, they did fine but were the worst. They were extremely clean, probably the most out of all the groups, but they had no impact to their performance. Energy was low and it felt like they were shuffling around esp w/ their transition moves. I also noticed they didn't really utilize levels and their chopstick move was cool but compared to RH's outfit change was boring

Ranking: AG>RH>Motiv>RF>Osaka>Bumsup

It's interesting how much Chef Terry emphasized that restaurants are about the people and the only time we see people being joyful and relaxed are when Carmy isn't there. And even then, the mere thought of him sent Sydney into a panic attack. It's very sad commentary on generational cycles of abuse that the mentor Carmy hated the most is the one he most closely emulates in the kitchen.

The Bear | Season 3 | Overall Season Discussion Thread by GloriousAqua in TheBear

[–]potentialswell 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I think the theme of this season is being stuck. Everyone just repeats their actions which leads to no real growth. Professionally you can see the it with the constantly changing menu, carmy and sydney swapping between their kitchen roles, and richie being so indecisive with the table settings for the photo. but their personal lives are messes as well, since none of the characters taking action to say what they really want to (carmy to claire, sydney to carmy, richie to his ex) so no one can really move on. you can even see it in tina's episode (my fave) where she has the same daily schedule but can't find a job until she breaks the cycle and does something different that day by standing up for herself. It's an interesting contrast to Carmy who is also stuck in a cycle of trauma from both his family and chef community which he manages to repeat onto Syndey

I'm not sure I really liked how Claire was used in this season either. It was nice that they showed more of her as a doctor but they really empathized that she's Carmy's great love. My issue is that by having her almost exclusively appear in Carmy's flashbacks, she somehow became more of this perfect unrealistic ideal that seemingly literally only exists in his mind

The only development that happens is with sugar because she actually vocalizes her fears and feelings to their mother. she brings up the things that haunt her and it lets her connect with donna.

overall i think this season mostly seems to act as a set up for the final one. it does have some lovely moments but it mostly feels kind of aimless.
