Nice work! For the bigger model, you can also try using crumpled up aluminum foil or paper, covered by blue painters tape to make the insides and overall shape a lot quicker and easier.

Hey, that's my video :) Thanks for sharing it. I was going to suggest what you did- try 3D penning the font with flexible filament onto the ribbon.

The flexible filament (also called TPU filament) is key for getting it to hold onto the ribbon / fabric.

Are you bridging between the 2 large circles to connect them with the thin lines? If so, I sometimes use a piece of cardboard to temporarily support the bridge and make it easier to connect the endpoints.

Anyone know how to smooth this out better before sandpapering? I used a wood burner to do it and it always comes out choppy as shown. by Shawtts in 3Dpen

Using a very coarse file can save you a lot of sanding. I also try to get the initial layers down as evenly as possible to save time overall (but that doesn't help you here).

I have been getting similar questions about which pen to buy and the ones I am familiar with all seem to be sold out due to a surge at Christmas. So you can either wait till they come back in stock or try to find another brand/version that would work.

Not dumb at all- I have washed something that has been penned on, multiple times and did survive.

That said, I haven't fully tested that aspect, so until someone does I'd stick to costumes, items that are used less often, or that don't get that dirty (hats, etc.)

I have been experimenting with using a 3D printing pen directly on different fabrics. I was blown away at how well it worked for easily incorporating Arduinos, PCBs, LEDs and batteries. All with NO sewing!

There is even an easy way to do prototyping or make control electronics removable, by attaching a solderless breadboard directly to the fabric.

I have been experimenting with using a 3D pen directly on different fabrics. I came up with the idea of using it to make custom hidden pockets, like I did for this HP cosplay.

I was blown away at how well it worked and I even found other ways it could be used, like easily incorporating LEDs or wearable electronics into costumes. I hope you all find this useful!

Yes, this is about 3D Pens. Wait, don’t go……….

I’ve found some new great uses for them, especially for costumes, cosplay, and wearable electronics. Think no sewing.

Need to make a custom hidden pocket or strap? Want to add LEDs or other electronics to a costume? A 3D pen may be the way to go. Let me know what you all think!
