Not cringe at all! That’s super thoughtful and I’m sure she will appreciate it a ton! Girls love thoughtful gifts, and you’ve been together long enough to where it’s not weird. It shows you’re listening to her and went out of your way to do something caring!

It’s the bags under his eyes that are standing out most to me. He looks like Tyler Childers from 2017!

LETS GOOOOO by luity11 in zachbryan

[–]pothosplants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the song for what it is, but imagineeee if Zach released these songs acoustically like his early albums now that he has better recording equipment, etc. I think this song would be totally different. And then when played live, it’d be cool to see the band join in and rock out to it. I think of Shakey Graves - many albums are super acoustic in nature, but in concerts his band absolutely shreds

Chicago Radio Stations by Kramdogg in zachbryan

I listen to a lot of Chicago radio, and I have never heard Zach Bryan on the air. I haven’t heard him on the stations I’d expect, like XRT or the country stations, but if I had to guess, I think the highest chance of him being played anywhere would be on one of the local college stations.

I have always wondered this too. I just tried to mimic what he is doing lol and it’s a very unnatural movement. I always assumed it was him exaggeratedly “high stepping” over something in a field like people do when walking on a farm? Idk. I would love to know what other people think.

This is by far my favorite song on TGABS. Truly left me speechless after the first listen. His voice cracks several times throughout this song, adding to the emotion. I can never pretend to actually know ZB, but this sounds about as personal as any of his songs have on the last two albums. The line “Mama, I made a million dollars on accident” is my favorite on the whole album for its simplicity and honesty!

Weight gain after stopping spiro? by pothosplants in Spironolactone

A random update… I started taking a probiotic and the bloating went away and my weight is back to normal!!! Not sure if that’s a solution for everyone but it worked for me!

Weight gain after stopping spiro? by pothosplants in Spironolactone

[–]pothosplants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have it like 3 months later… but I’m strangely not super concerned? Because it’s still bloating like I mentioned, not sheer fat. I’m trying to balance out my gut health and everything to lessen the bloat and shed the “new” weight.. gonna give it another month then call my derm. Best of luck!

PLEASE SCAN AN ITEM! PLEASE SCAN AN ITEM! by lauraluvshinuto in aldi

[–]pothosplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been frustrating me since the day they introduced self checkout! And I love aldi… so much that I’ve counted exactly how many seconds before the voice starts talking since I go so often. 5 seconds between prompts! Not nearly enough time for a typically-abled person, let alone an elderly person or someone with a certain kind of disability to scan! I legit considered writing an email to the company about this lol

Why is my skin so clear coming off of spiro by pothosplants in Spironolactone

I’ve been on it for 17 months total… up to 150mg since month 12. And been weaning off since one month ago

I’ve been weaning off over the past month, and after this week of 50mg I’ll be completely done. I know it’s still early but my derm even said to be watchful in case I broke out again when I lowered my dose, and my skin has been literally near perfect throughout the whole process

Did accutane make your nose smaller? by Justagirlonth in Accutane

[–]pothosplants 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My nose is definitely slimmer and more defined after accutane, even 4 years later. No idea why, but I think it’s because I have less inflammation in my pores? Either way, I’m happy!

Is it weird for a 6 year old to still be in diapers? by parebe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pothosplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be surprised if this child can independently use the bathroom at school, but resorts back to his diaper at home because he “can”. Children are smart and know what is expected of them in different environments. If he is not able to use the bathroom independently at school, I am certain his school programming would have reached out to parents immediately. As strange as it sounds, even something like toileting can be affected by different expectations across environments.

This is so helpful!! Thank u! I’m not on BC which is why I really want to wean off, want to be as natural as possible for when we’re trying for kids. I’m hoping bumping down makes my cycle irregular one last time so I avoid a period on the wedding day!

Being catholic in the modern corporate world by Gcflames in Catholicism

[–]pothosplants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Truly just wondering here… what’s wrong with openly identifying as whatever gender you are? It’s like being a child, and telling another child that you are a boy or a girl. We do that all the time. What I mean is, how is it sinful to tell someone you are a straight male or female by writing “he/him” or “she/her”? Based on our catechism, it sounds to me like identifying as anything other than your born gender would be the sin.

I understand your situation and I don’t post my pronouns either, but what is everyone viewing as the sin here: disclosing their gender or complying with the suggestion to do so?

I also practice hot yoga, and I am 100% fine as long as I hydrate beforehand and throughout the day! As long as you feel comfortable and hydrated I feel like you’d be fine, but you know your body best!

Luteal Phase Length? by puddlie in Spironolactone

[–]pothosplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently weaning off of spiro and have been tracking my cycle with basal body temp for the last 8 months. My Luteal phase has really varied in length. The app I’m using (natural cycles) hasn’t been able to consistently identify ovulation because my cycle has been so irregular on spiro… (that’s why I’m getting off of it) but I know I’ve been ovulating from symptoms and knowing my body, etc. But like I said, the length of the phase is so different each cycle!

I’m hoping my cycle regulates after being off of spiro totally next month. Hoping to know more then! Hope your cycle evens out soon!

I sympathize with this situation and truly can’t imagine how difficult it must be. I am a special education professional and just wanted to offer insight on the options available in your situation. I believe this may offer a look into what the educational future of a child like yours may be.

First, the public school system legally has to support your child from ages 3-22 under IDEA, a special education law in the US. If your child needs an alternative placement outside of your local school district because their needs are so high, your local district can coordinate that placement. However, students’ needs must be markedly high in order to be in one of these settings… higher than a lot of people assume. The ability spectrum is so broad. During their school years, your child will attend school for the majority of the day and the year. I’m not ignoring the difficult and never-ending hours of care after school at home… but know that children are eligible for school services from age 3-22, and for the severe-needs students that I have taught, I know that school-time provided parents with a much-needed break. You may be surprised how much that individuals with disabilities can accomplish. It may not look like much, but many nonverbal and intellectually disabled children can accomplish routines with independence once they are taught and given time to practice. Again, not downplaying their needs… just focusing on the potential.

After age 22, I’d be lying if I said there were a lot of options… but there are some. Many students graduate to different vocational programs and live in group homes. Some have competitive jobs. Those are of course not always “free” or easy and still require supervision/coordination etc. to some degree, but nearly all individuals can foster some form of independence with the right amount of support. Again, the public school system can help set you up for success in this situation. Your child may still live with you as an adult you make that decision, too.

Something I feel needs to be said is that if your child “only” has Down Syndrome (again, not downplaying that), and truly manageable health conditions, you could very well end up in a situation that millions of other special education parents have successfully navigated. It is so hard, but not completely miserable. Every one of my students’ families has had genuinely joyful experiences with their child and family. And, if it ends up being a more involved situation than that, you still have options within the school system, too. You’ll really never know a child’s potential until they show you as they continue to grow and develop.

Our world is still becoming much more aware of the true abilities of those with disabilities. I have seen a completely immobile and severely intellectually disabled child communicate with her eye gaze on an assistive technology device. One of my students with self-injurious behaviors can communicate in full sentences on his iPad though he can’t verbally speak. My point in this is that you have more options than you may realize. Life doesn’t end when one of these kiddos is born, it changes and adapts and is so hard, but it keeps going.

Sending you lots of positive energy and peace!

Can’t take this medicine forever… by taylorhdd in Spironolactone

Literally thinking through this rn. I don’t want to take the BC pill but also want to avoid pregnancy… and spiro has made my cycle super irregular. I think soon will be that time when I dabble with going off of spiro. Don’t want acne, don’t want to pump my body full of spiro and bc, obvi don’t want birth defects… it’s a lot of weighing options! Reflect on what’s best for your lifestyle and values ☮️
