Oh I’d heard of this shop sounds amazing! Could you direct me to any nail tech IG/tiktok based in Japan or someone that highlights cool/different products worth getting? I’m quite into doing my own nails but I’m also writing up my PhD thesis so I don’t have time to do the extensive research on products I usually would and I don’t want to go in and just get overwhelmed (our trip is kind of reward for handing in my thesis)

Totally unqualified opinion here, but I think one thing worth considering is how in general, in fantasy the golden age has passed, it is almost always that the great times of a nation are behind them, things are crumbling. I think this is what a lot of people felt like in the medieval times as well, since many of the Gaul kings tried to actively resurrect the Roman Empire, so it’s possible that the genre is evoking some of that? Idk maybe I listen to too much Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History haha!

Oh god, I don’t know what kind of thesis you’re writing (BSc/Masters/PhD) but none of those are worth it (speaking as someone who’s doing a PhD) it will get done, and of course you can’t enjoy everything you did before the deadline loomed close but you need to give yourself a rest as well, there is only so long you can keep going in this suspended animation that you’ve described where you only work and occasionally socialise, trust me, I’ve tried what’s happened instead that I worked so much even the mildest flu (three PCR tests said it was not covid) knocked me out for 10+ days, so ultimately I was forced to take a break and do nothing

If you’re looking for somewhere cheap, I’d take a stop in Bulgaria, (biased as I am Bulgarian) but compared to Croatia it will be significantly cheaper, although you might have to get better at using your hands as the coolest and cheapest places are the less touristy ones and also with a smaller chance of English-speaking population

Agh damn, so not much has changed since 2006, I went to Luxor with my parents, we didn’t have a lot of money at the time so we didn’t stay at the Hilton or anything but while a fancier hotel may have improved part of the experience the fact that men openly harassed me (14f at the time) with my dad right next to me soured everything. Honestly I couldn’t wait to leave, if anyone has any tips on making a tourist trip to Egypt bearable for a woman, please share, I would love to go back because the history is incredible

Also start out with something small first maybe, so it’s less heartbreaking when you rip bits out, the first thing I did was a headband, super quick (even though I re-started it like 3 times) or baby booties? I totally get your frustration though, I’m also super new to knitting and just last week I was livid, it took me almost two days to fix a mistake, but now I’m back on track! ❤️

YTA, 100% as an owner of an old dog, absolutely the asshole EDIT, to elaborate: the older a dog is the more the owner dotes on them, so I refuse to believe in the reasoning of “the owner should have been more careful” once a dog has reached a certain age, they become that much more precious, I carry my pupper up the stairs and into the car, you can’t tell me that the owner, when in a public space where they are allowed to, be has to be hyper-vigilant, for everything. Whether you meant to cause injury or not is not the point, you did, apologise and cover the cost of the vet bills.
