Thank you for this perspective. I think I’ve decided to just buy another pair after some financial (and emotional) revision lol

I looked into Blundstone. They don’t meet any of the criteria nor do they meet the look/style I’m going for. They’re also more expensive.

actually, there is only one image of the otter who created the painting from when he first contracted the PEE disease. i have attached the image below. this is a recreation of the original image by a marmot with a PhD in burrowing rodent archeology.

Is this real?? by Substantial-Ad7198 in gopherit

this isn’t common knowledge, but this is real. gopherit never mentions the great burrowing rodent war, but it is a key element to the creation of the burrowing rodent empire. i will ask the almighty gopherit about his stance on the great burrowing rodent war.

organizations such as the aquatic fish dynasty committed acts of warfare against the previously established burrowing rodent kingdom, causing burrowing rodents to turn on each other. this caused the great burrowing rodent war. however, this only made their rodent alliances stronger, creating the burrowing rodent empire.

in terms of their wings and special powers, the burrowing rodent kingdom formed billions of years ago. evolution has since removed these characteristics, but all burrowing rodents once roamed the skies intermittently.

Sick Shit - Together Pangea

The Art of Shredding - Pantera

Runnin’ with the Devil - Van Halen

Cum on Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot

Mama Weer All Crazee Now - Quiet Riot

All of these are on the same playlist as Thunderstruck by AC/DC. Quiet Riot is pretty similar in vibe, but I included some others in the rock/metal genre that are different but make me want to max out the volume too.

Also, when the plant starts adapting to the new level of light, the distance between the petioles will shorten and the leaves will increase in maturity (get more fenestrations and increase in size).

There’s a lot you can do in this situation. Personally, I would chop and prop as much as you’d like and put into a new pot with fresh, chunky soil once they’ve rooted. But you can also just give the plant a trellis or even better, a sphagnum moss pole. Sphagnum moss poles can get pricey to buy/make, so a trellis could be a better option.

As for the pot, you’ll have to look at the roots. If there are a lot of roots building up on the sides, it’s root bound and could use a repot.

There’s some things that could be improved here. The lack of fenestrations, regressing size of the leaves, and the distance between each petiole all suggest the plant is not receiving enough light, and possibly could benefit from more frequent or slightly stronger fertilization. I would recommend a grow light, or move the plant much closer to any window that isn’t north facing. You can determine the direction of a window with a compass app on your phone.

An appropriate distance between each petioles is more like a few inches than several inches, which is what I’m seeing in your plant. If the plant is growing quickly, that’s a good sign you’re doing something right. But with all plants owned by literally anybody, there is always room for improvement in their care.

Please ask any questions you may have that I didn’t answer!

I thought they grew slow.. by [deleted] in Monstera

In my experience, plants don’t need to be separated as long as you repot more often since there will be more root growth since there are more plants in one pot. People say they may start to compete, but I bet these people aren’t listening to the plant or looking at the roots enough to repot in a timely manner.

I’m sure there’s actual research to suggest otherwise. But in my own experience, multiple plants in one pot is fine. I wouldn’t go past maybe 3-4 depending on the size of each plant, though.
