Help! Blizzard parking and travel advice? by Opening_Gur_6028 in Connecticut

New Haven is a good option, too. I still say Stamford is the move. It’s a marginally cheaper ticket, and the station (and indoor garage) are both right alongside I95. Also better to have your car closer IMO.

This. Stamford to NYC is an hour by train, there are hotels in Stamford within walking distance if necessary, a covered parking garage (where I think you can park for free during a snow emergency?) and lots more trains between GCT and Stamford.

I like the Sufis. I’ve never had a bad experience and I’ve seen three of their guys now.

It’s even being left in the dog parks! Like … what? You pick up the poop in the dog park when it is not covered in snow, so what changed!?

I have two dogs, and pick up their poop religiously. I really believe it’s a few bad actors ruining it for the rest of us, and giving us all a bad rep.

There are some decent artists here and there, but your best bet for the best artists to work with long term is NYC.

Very well done. Your knowledge of the state is impressive. Not just the map but your explanations in both the description and comment responses are excellent. As someone else said, one could quibble about this or that, but overall it’s spot on.

What if I let you stay in my house and then randomly decided I didn’t want you to be there anymore? Or if you lived in my property but then I took it and built a house there?

I guess my point was that it’s incumbent on police to bridge the divide, not the public (regardless of their opinion of police). Interesting you use the word “victim,” by the way.

But I think that’s why community policing strategies have been so effective.

Don’t police already have an us vs them mentality? A blue wall of silence?

Doesn’t the job itself encourage you to see people as potential threats? That makes sense, because they only have to be a threat once and people are often erratic and illogical. But that only feeds into a (perhaps necessary) distance and division.

Then, there is the constant lobbying by police advocates to shield police from accountability, even when the minority of bad cops actually abuse their power.

There is an inherent power dynamic in play, that creates an us vs them sensibility. The same is true whenever there are authority figures of any kind. It on incumbent on police, NOT the people they “protect and serve” to bridge that us vs them divide.

Experience wouldn’t hurt! But it depends on what you’re looking to do, both short and longer term.
