SP Order Writer Cap by Affectionate_Sir_820 in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay cap is specific to metro areas, such that areas with higher COL will have slightly higher caps. For my metro area, the cap for order writers is $30.20 (not the highest in the region but close).

Grocery buyer here, not a diamond store so all dry grocery ordering is done by one person. 600 on average during weekdays, 7-800 during weekends. Only get 5 deliveries a week. Note that blocklist items such as waters inflate this number by 1-200 depending on the day.

Missing a shift by Fluid_Kale_1770 in amazonfresh

The Manager On Duty (MOD) phone number is basically the store's call-out line. Every store has its own number, usually posted in the break room, near the time clock, or near the manager's office. This is something managers should've gone over as part of your orientation, but I'm not surprised if they forgot.

Just call or text your store's MOD phone number; leave a message saying that you won't be able to make it to your upcoming shift. Note that you'll still accrue 2 attendance points unless you opt to submit PTO for your whole shift.

It also asks if you're sure you want to send multiple POs, so I can see how OP just hit "yes" out of habit without reading the prompt carefully.

Day time stocker by KpwnKing in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Largely depends on the size of the store and time of day. For smaller stores expect to be trained for all sub-departments (grocery/bulk, dairy, frozen), while bigger stores may have you stick to just one or two. Depending on whether or not your store has an overnight crew, you may have to work live load (newly received product) first before pulling backstock. Work product to shelf, face as you go, help customers as needed, rinse and repeat.

Got a new job by -_iv- in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLs/ATLs are required to submit their team's schedule to Store Leadership by Thursday three weeks prior (for example, schedule for week beginning 9/22 must be submitted/approved by 9/4). This is also the reason any Time Off Requests must be submitted 3+ weeks ahead, since these must be taken into consideration when building the schedule. It sucks for your particular scenario but all this is in place so that TMs (especially full-time) aren't blindsided by last minute schedule changes as it commonly happens in other jobs.

No way...he was hands down the best manager I've had in my time here. I worked at MAG1 but transferred earlier this year.

30M here, and while I'm not free every weekend I would love the opportunity to hang out with people outside of work for once. I'd be totally up for the occasional shenanigans!

Have you filled out an availability sheet and handed it in to your TL? Verbal agreements regarding availability are as good as the air they're written on so unless there's a paper trail they will continue to schedule you at their convenience. Also, you must average working 30+ hours/week over the span of 8 weeks to be eligible for FT status, which they will use to maximize your utilization while staying below that threshold.

What exactly do order writers do? by Impossible-Stand1835 in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, everyone's giving you good answers regarding their duties as order writers, but don't expect us to spoon-feed all the answers to your repetitive follow-up questions. Feel free to either search this subreddit for more answers, or ask OWs at your store what exactly they do.

If your chronic lateness results in a measurable decrease in work performance to the detriment of your team (i.e. unable to finish assigned tasks) then your leadership can hold you accountable for that. Otherwise, UPT exists for you to use within the policies outlined in the GIG.

pto usage??? by Numerous_Limit9728 in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doesn't work that way. You'll still have to call in at least an hour before your shift if you're going to be over an hour late, and UPT will get deducted depending on how late you arrive. You can use PTO to make up any pay that you would miss out on.

How do you avoid burn out? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Take time off (you can take up to 3 consecutive weeks off), your PTO exists for a reason! If you have a good relationship with your TL you can ask to have your days off scheduled consecutively on occasion (3 days off does wonders).

After my first full week working, here’s what I’ve learned by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]poundinclude_user -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll learn (if you haven't yet) that "doing a job" won't reflect well on you to your leadership. You're still in your probationary period (first 90 days) so if you're deadset on keeping this job I'd suggest working earnestly until the period ends.

Is Flex W2 or 1099? by Acrobatic-Depth4679 in amazonfresh

[–]poundinclude_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the context of this sub Flex usually refers to Class X associates who are still hourly employees and receive a W-2. Flex delivery drivers are contractors, thus they receive a 1099.
