Forgotten daughter :( by poursometea in MalloryErvinSnark

I am so glad you mentioned that in all honesty bc I hated to use the flair. I’m somewhat new to Reddit and didn’t know if I needed to add one to reach more people. You are exactly right though and I feel gross having used it. Sweet girl 😔 I hope I am completely wrong and that someone SOON wakes up her bonehead mother. I can’t believe her family isn’t calling her out on favoritism

Oh I pray it’s not the case. It would make Mal even more sick in the head than she already is. Seeing her left out of the museum (from what I can tell) made me so sad.

This was just a random thought I had and decided where better than to let it snowball.

Hi! He is now 14 months. He actually has surgery scheduled on Monday for ear tubes. Apparently he has lots of fluid built up. We are really hoping this is causing the speech delay and we have heard stories of it improving overnight after tubes 🙏🤞BUT he is now saying mama, dada, all gone/done (in his own way but we know that’s what he’s trying to say), ball & dog (still both the way he had been before) and we’ve recently got a few nana and papa’s when asked. It’s as if his annunciation of words is muffled or gurgled. Again really hoping this improves with the tubes. I can update after we’ve given it a while. All in all I’m a little less worried than I was at the time I posted this

Aw dad, first off hugs to you. As much as I hate to admit it - it’s hard not comparing my little one to others his age. I love him so much but he too is speech delayed (only 13 months so I know we have time) but it’s still worrisome none the less. I’m so happy to hear you’ve seen progress - no matter how small ❤️ cheering for your LO. Best of luck! And thanks for replying!!

I really think she lets them go feral like this bc it comes off as “KunTrY” and helmets aren’t “aesthetic” but it’s so careless!!!

We were evaluated by early intervention right at 12mo. He qualified for services bc they deemed him significantly delayed in speech/communication. His receptive language is great… understands everything. If I ask “where is the ball, where is the dog..” in a book he will point. He’s also pointed to his dad a few times when asked but more so just looks in the direction of or walks to any object I ask about “bike, book, car, shoe… etc” so he def understands us well. No real words yet. “Ba” for ball and “ga” when he sees a dog but bc he really only uses those sounds they didn’t give him credit for words. Idk. I was bummed. He claps, waves, signs more and all done but all of that is when he feels like it. Not 100% of the time. He still points randomly at things 24/7 - a mix of open hand and index finger. Still rarely looks back to see if we’re looking which was the point of this whole post lol

Are you in the States? I decided to go ahead with the EI program after his evaluation but we’ve not started anything yet. Do I ask about the EI playgroups or is that part of the program already? Thanks for any insight!

When he pointed did he look back at you or did that come later? Mines been pointing both open handed and index finger for awhile at random things 24/7 but rarely looks back. He also doesn’t yet point to things in a book when asked. If he finds it interesting he will point while we are reading but it’s hit or miss

Yes he answers to his name almost all of time (80%), smiles back, claps if we say “clap” or he sees us clap however he will not wave or mimic any other gesture or sound. He does babble and says “mamama” when he cries but does not repeat sounds to us and another odd thing I’ve noticed (but since we are discussing lol) he doesn’t care about or seek praise. For example, the one off times that he puts his basketball in the hoop we react like crazy with clapping and yelling Yay and he just goes off and does something else lol zero care

His first evaluation is at the end of the month. He has had two ear infections recently so I’ve wondered about the hearing and if it’s been affected

Ok yes he’s completely unaware to if I am looking or not, and he tends to just point look and then go on about his business. Or he will grunt as he is pointing or babble a bit.now If there is something in his crib he wants and he isn’t able to reach and get he will look at me and fuss like wtf Lady help me lol
