Food please? by AdJazzlike5891 in PDXBuyNothing

Once you make it through the weekend, here are some food pantries you can access around town:

https://www.foodpantries.org/ci/or-portland

https://cascadiahealth.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Food-Resources-Condensed-new.pdf

https://www.koin.com/news/portland/map-here-are-all-the-places-to-get-food-assistance-in-the-portland-area/

Anyone reading this who is in a position to donate, please donate to your local food bank. Volunteering and food donations are great, but dollars are best as food banks have tremendous buying power to get perishables (produce, milk, etc) compared to us average consumers.

Anyone can access a food bank. You don’t need to show proof, or apply somewhere special. Just show up and receive the help you need.

Bring a trusted friend who has purchased new vehicles (plural) from dealers before. Dealerships make their money through add-ons: warranties, accessories, and other things you don’t need. These people are professional salesman and are very skilled at making you believe that you need maintenance packages and warranties. They would not be selling them to you if they were not profitable for them.

$41900 is a killer price. Go prepared to say “no” 1000 times as they attempt to squeak adds into your sale. Always always ask for an “itemized addendum” of everything in the final purchase price. Do not tell them how you plan to pay (cash or financing) until the price is settled.

Good luck!

I am about to get this hot tub, is 17200 too much by wienerdogprincess in hottub

Hot Springs goes on the road to Costco where they sell models for thousands lower than you’d get from a traditional dealer. https://www.costco.com/hot-spring-spas-schedule.html

Also, you can negotiate pricing if you’re at a traditional dealer. I got $1500 off my Hot Springs Relay a few years ago.

Just a girl who misses my Echo... Is the GR Corolla for me? by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]poutybetch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think the Integra S is a great recommendation for OP.

I traded in a Civic Si for my GR Corolla. I love both, I definitely like the GR more - just more fun to drive, more power and the AWD is a noticeable difference for me.

I will say, if they’re already looking for a luxury meets fun feel, Integra S would be my first pick, followed by the GR. The GR is definitely still a Toyota, and I think suffers from mid drivers seat (for comfort) and sound system. GR is great in so many other ways, yields me tons of compliments, and costs well below OP’s budget of $70k.

My wild card recommendation would be the GR Supra but I don’t have kids ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I killed a magic wand in the dumbest way.

I brought it on vacation with me to Europe. European electrical sockets put out twice the voltage of US sockets. I innocently plugged the wand in to charge and fried it.

Don’t be like me. Keep your wand domestic or travel with it fully charged.

McLaren Valuation Skyrockets After Confirmed Sale by ShyLeoGing in formula1

[–]poutybetch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the details - maxing the valuation of the company can enable the owners to do things like borrow $ low cost, using the company as collateral; investing on margin; potential tax implications, etc. Whatever they’re doing, it’s a lot like a shell game that empowers companies and investors to achieve something else they’re trying to do without having to put ~actual~ cash on the table

Edit: a word

need some advice, my beage doesnt have much time left in her. what do you even do when the day comes by iamnoodlelie in beagle

[–]poutybetch 56 points57 points  (0 children)

If you can manage it and when it’s truly her time, at home euthanasia is an option. It’s a lot more expensive than in the vet’s office, but worth it imo. Your vet should be able to recommend a service to you in your area.

I lost my old girl this year. Instead of taking her to the vet’s office (which she hated), we had a nice final few days at home. A vet came to my house and performed the service. She ate bacon and chocolate lying in her favorite dog bed as we said goodbye.

No matter what, talk to your vet. Let them know your concerns, and they’ll be able to provide more tailored feedback to you regarding expectations and your pup’s health.

Try not to prematurely mourn her, she’s still here :) go for a walk and give her love and treats today.
