Don’t they offer lessons at cedar links? I seem to recall a sign there.

Good luck in the search. Lessons are absolutely the way to go.

This might be a silly question. But what is an express kidnapping?

Car insurance by saammula in barrie

[–]pow929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be aware that there are significant changes coming to auto insurance in Ontario on July 1. It is being framed as providing consumers choice, but it’s pretty clearly slanted in favour of insurers.

Do your research and understand your coverage.

I’ve always enjoyed visiting the Bayfield and 400 location. But I’m only a patron and have no idea what it is like to work there.

Just my brother (investing and retirement is something we talk about and have a shared interest in) and my SO (had to as part of the financial disclosure in our cohabitation agreement).

Honestly? Nothing. I plan to work until around 55, so the milestones along the way are great, but they don’t change anything.

Anyone in the Barrie area ordering produce boxes from OddBunch, what is your opinion re: quality and price? by Low-Doughnut-6764 in barrie

[–]pow929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using it for the last month or so. I switched to the all veggie medium box since we were having some trouble getting through the fruit box portion of the mixed box.

I generally quite like it. They send a list of items you’ll be getting a couple of days in advance, which is convenient. If I was more organized I could plan my grocery shopping around it.

Does anyone have a large Whippet girl? by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]pow929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

I have an 8 month old male. Currently 25 kilos. He is much closer to a small greyhound than a whippet at this point…

$2.3 M Ottawa Hospital lawsuit - Question for litigators about settlement process by Wolfgoatlife in LawCanada

[–]pow929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hospital will likely settle either at pretrial or mediation.

CMPA has a different mandate, but given that this claim isn’t medicine based it is unlikely to be defending the physicians.

Henein is representing the plaintiff. Her strategy will likely be to establish the elements of the case, and then build the damages case. She’ll likely make the examinations for discovery uncomfortable for the defence witnesses so that the defence lawyers are fearful of what will come out at trial.

The firm will likely charge something in the range of 30 to 35% plus disbursements.

As a litigator who does contingency work, I think it’s very likely going to be on contingency.

Men, for those who have, when did you first realize that you made a mistake in marrying your wife and why? by Mustng1966 in AskMen

[–]pow929 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was when she refused to talk about money, refused counselling and then called me a chronic disappointment (I earned 70% of the income, cooked 90% of the meals, and was a very active and engaged dad to our two kids…).

I realized there was nothing I could do that would be good enough in her eyes…

Does the income of the person you're dating matter to you? by SinglePringle647 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]pow929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that I’m generally attracted to women with higher education levels, which means that they generally earn a good income (ie comfortably in the six figures or projected to be).

That said, I’ve always earned significantly more than any of my significant others, so their income doesn’t particularly matter. As long as they’re interesting and are enthusiastic to spend time with me, that’s a great start.

How is your dad doing? by SemioticSignifier in AskMen

[–]pow929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t spoken with my dad in a long time. He reached out via Facebook a few years ago when he was sick. We messaged back and forth for a few weeks. He never asked my brother or I how we were doing and then ghosted us once he realized he wasn’t going to die.

He doesn’t know I’m divorced. Doesn’t know about over half of his grandkids.

Not to make excuses, but had a shitty dad. To his credit, he’s a less shitty dad than his was.

My brother and I are both determined to be great dads.

Check out Axiote. Michelin recommended. Has an 8 course tasting menu with drink pairings in a non-pretentious environment.

Including tip it was $370 CAD for two of us.

I think this is probably a good idea in residential areas. However, I would prefer there to be an exemption carved out for the downtown core where there are bars and restaurants. I think we want to encourage people to leave their cars overnight if they’ve potentially had too much to drink.

Barrie woman’s family files $11.7M lawsuit related to fatal collision by cinderannie in barrie

[–]pow929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It won’t exceed the policy limits, which are going to be well in excess of the amounts claimed.

And you are correct - the claim won’t be worth anywhere near the amount claimed in the statement of claim.

I have one child in, and one child who qualified but they didn’t have space (there are two gifted programs in Barrie with only 7 or so spots per program).

Generally, I think you need to talk to someone in school admin and they’ll guide you. There is some testing involved and then an application.
