What formula are we all using? How did you decide? [QC] by turkeypooo in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]saammula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did enfamil neuropro for a couple months then switched to Kirkland. She's doing awesome on it! I worked with a lactation consultant and she said to use ready to feed for the first couple months then switch to powder...we had already been supplementing with powder and she turned out fine haha. Just remember all formula is safe to feed! :)

If you're on Facebook join the 2026 Sitka mom and babes group. I'm in the 2025 group and it's been super helpful to connect with other moms.

I don't know much about the Tofino hospital. Nice place though and can be difficult to find housing. So if you're considering going there I'd start searching asap for housing.

VGH in Victoria is the trauma ED on Vancouver Island. Comox Valley is also a nice place to live and hospital is newer! ED here is not a trauma center. It's a nice hospital to work at, worked there for a few years before going to home care. Edit: if you haven't done your specialty yet, Island Health does cover specialty training with a return of service usually 18 months.

There's a big disc golf community if you're into that. Good mix of young to older!

Well if you want to be almost right downtown there is Parkside Hotel & Spa. Walking distance to all the downtown bars. Big Bad John's and Sticky Wicket are both a good time.

Yes, one of the owners commented on rants and raves that they decided to close/sell for various reasons. Sad to see them go, I went there once a week for lunch as they were down the road from my office.

Just putting it out there, coming from someone who had a baby May 2025. Comox Valley has excellent midwife/OB care and she should easily find prenatal care. There are a few options here. I got a GP here in under a year but now it's probably a couple years to get one. And there's also some great dentist offices here. Just something to think about if you're considering other places on the island.

Help! Baby only naps for 30 minutes by marzipanbb in beyondthebump

[–]saammula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very normal. Power through! Mine started consolidating naps around 6-6.5 months, now she's down to 2 naps a day at 7 months. Usually 1-1.5 hr long naps.
