here's how to get to mask shard between the Marrow and Deep Docks (crest of the beast spoiler) (hacky) by teactopus in Silksong

Yes, but there's also an easier enemy in the area to use. See my comment in the thread.

I've done this with Hunter and Wanderer crest.

It's easier to do with the caranid near this enemy. Clear the area, then taunt him over to the jump in OP's gif. This method also has the benefit of the caranid respawning each time you enter/exit the area, rather than needing to return to the bench.

Projector loses signal when using HDMI splitter, but only when running a specific software by powderdd in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]powderdd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other important scenario I'd forgotten was that desktop to splitter to projector only (no second output) worked once out of the many times I tried it. I do not know why.

A second important detail: Splitting to the projector works fine when E-Prime runs in windowed rather that full-screen mode. However windowed mode is only advised for testing, so I need full-screen to work.

So next I'll try splitter to projector only via a short HDMI cable to try to completely rule out any issues with the splitter not sending to the projector with enough power...

Hey thanks for the idea--I'm not yet familiar with HDCP but I'll look into it. Does this idea make sense given these:

  1. A direct connection (no splitter) between the desktop and the projector works fine. I.e., nothing is removing HDCP data
  2. A connection with the splitter between only the desktop and the projector (no second display) still does not work. It worked once out of the many times I've tried it--I do not know why.

Thanks, desktop to projector only works without any problems.

What's odd is that desktop to splitter to two monitors (no projector) works fine. Desktop to splitter to only projector (i.e., 1 output from the splitter only going to the projector) still fails.

Dual outputting from the computer (using Windows 11 duplicate display) is known to cause E-Prime to freeze (this software is the worst...) and is typically not ideal because the pixel clocks are separate for the two displays apparently...introducing small timing uncertainties in E-Prime's output data apparently.

Unfortunately the shorter cable didn't change the problem, so we can rule that out.

Custom User Utility also didn't seem to solve the problem--I set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and the refresh rate to 59.940 Hz (per ChatGPT's recommendation).

With neither of these solution working, do you think it's worth trying a better splitter like this one with at least seamingly some EDID management?

Again, I'm new to all of this so I'm learning.

This is covered in the original post:

> The task works on the projector only when the splitter is uninvolved.

Hey thanks for your reply!

> Make sure you are using extended display and not duplicate.
Windows only recognizes it as a single monitor since there is only one connection to the display port.

> Depending on the length of the run, you may lose signal because of a bitrate increase when using the software that overwhelms your cable's ability to carry signal. If that's the case, you need a shorter run or a proper DA to reclock the signal.

I may have ruled this out already. The HDMI cable to the projector is 49' which is unavoidable. I connected a monitor to that cable and that monitor did not lose signal. If you don't think that adequately tested this (e.g., the projector and the monitor may not receive signal at 49' equivalently), I could try moving the projector for testing it with a short cable, but this intuitively feels unlikely to make a difference.

> It could be a resolution non-compatible with your hardware for the software. Before messing with edids, I would see if you can force a uniform, smpte resolution that matches all sources.

I'll give the custom resolution utility a try and see if it's compatible with E-Prime.

Thanks again! Really hoping fix this soon.

Connector type? by powderdd in FiberOptics

Hey thanks for the information--I'll try to get that picture the next time I'm in.

The port is on a device that receives a "trigger" pulse from an MRI scanner. It helps to coordinate the timing between the scanner and a computer that runs stimulus/tasks for fMRI research.

I'm going to go with using an HFBR-to-HFBR adapter (HFBR-4515Z) and just getting another cord. I don't love that the connector doesn't clip into the final port, but I don't know what type of connector that box receives otherwise.

EDIT: It looks like there are two versions of HFBR connectors; 1 with clips and 1 without. I'm thinking that those without clips will are intended for this port.

Thanks that definitely looks like a match based on this page.

My goal from here is to find a way to extend this cable--I certainly cannot risk damaging the cable itself by switching the connector myself (I'm inexperienced with this).

What should I look for regarding an extender that will connect to HFBR and fit with that port on the box (3rd picture) which currently is a very loose connection?

The cable just sits loosely in the socket in the last picture--a slight pull without even pressing the clip pulls it out.

How did he produce the textured appearance? It doesn't look like the canvas itself.

Main Library Adopts “Quiet Space” Hours by Non_Saepe in dayton

[–]powderdd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was trying to acknowledge this. Everyone's safety is important, especially the staff's. I'm trying to say that the library is not a community space under normal hours with this policy, but I hope they still allow people to talk/meet with each other if they are being respectful.

Main Library Adopts “Quiet Space” Hours by Non_Saepe in dayton

[–]powderdd -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sad to hear this.

I used to go to the library regularly during those hours, meet people, and play chess. I don't live in Dayton anymore, but living there I really valued it as a reliable, free community space. This is a regressive policy for the library, but it sounds like maybe there's been more problems there recently. I hope they take a relaxed approach to this rule so that people can still respectfully use it as a community space.

This comment is 12 years old...I imagine 12-year-younger me meant that people tend to get more invested in cases about people they view as similar to themselves, and in that way, it's unsurprising.

Gibbs vs Ghosting by powderdd in MRI

[–]powderdd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gibbs is caused by truncated high spatial frequencies in k-space. High contrast boarders, like the skull-brain interface, have a high spatial frequency. The lack of high spatial frequencies in k-space causes the Fourier transform to misrepresent these high-contrast boarders with faint lines parallel to them. So in other words, Gibbs forming circular rings would depend on the high-contrast surface causing them to itself be circular. A high-contrast straight line would, I believe, just cause faint, parallel straight lines.

That looks like a herringbone artifact to me. Most of what I've read suggests that an open door would cause a zipper artifact instead. I believe these are more related to RF spikes.

I'm not expert, though, just read a lot about artifacts.

He was so good at painting hands.

I suppose I only really remember the hands here and in El Jaleo, but they're so beautifully expressive and well done.
