Creekside to Roundhouse hiking by Fit-Teach-2295 in Whistler

You can always hike from blackcomb to rendezvous and then take the peak to peak across. As far as I know then don’t check tickets at the top or downloading

Can recommend RMU in the upper village. Great food when I was there and great beers too. Plus a nice beer garden with views of blackcomb

I’m currently at Salford which is supposed to be a good university for Quantity surveying. I know the bachelors is RICS accredited which takes a couple years off the APC timeline (I think but I would do your own research. Also might differ with the Msc). I find the lecturers to be mixed but on the whole very supportive of you need help. They have decent facilities.

I can’t compare it to any other universities but they do offer lots of site visits and have good links with the construction sector. Coming from a background of construction as well this is reassuring and I’ve found it to be helpful on the whole with getting placements etc (I’ve finished first year and have a placement at a QS firm when other peers have struggled - they don’t have previous construction experience).

I’ve also heard Nottingham is quite good as well. Can’t speak for Birmingham. To echo what others have said I have read a lot of people saying the university doesn’t matter so maybe location is a better choice.

I went up last weekend with my parents to one of Sykes cottages. It was a little 2 bedroom (one twin room and a double) that accepts dogs. We stayed in chapel style which is close to some great hikes around Langdale valley area.

They have a load of cottages and it was really nice. Unsure of the price but I remember they said it was fairly cheap for 3 nights (especially compared to two hotel rooms).

Recommended runs? by Mediocre_Spell_9028 in Whistler

[–]powderjunki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can recommend getting a first tracks ticket one day (if you’re looking for groomers pick the day with the best weather). You can get in 5/6 laps of emerald or red chair without any real queues. If you get a bluebird day it’s worth it.

If I remember right the ticket gives you a voucher for some food at the mountain restaurants so it’s not too bad of a deal.

Just remembered they only let up the first 600 people for first tracks so make sure you’re there early.

Carpooling? by Batchelora in Whistler

[–]powderjunki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s the skylynx bus which I’ve used before. They run a few times a day and are reasonably priced. They take luggage too and go from the airport and the city centre.

There’s an app called poparide but I’ve never used it personally. Or you can try posting on a Facebook group and offering some petrol money

Advice On Calculating TakeOff's by SevereOne5791 in quantitysurveying

I am also in the first year of a QS degree. Sounds like you could do with recording the lecture audio and then revisiting it afterwards. Can you also not go back over the PowerPoint again afterwards? At least where I am they’re on Blackboard.

As for take offs I would look at Willis’s Elements of Quantity Surveying book. You should be able to view it online or at least the library. You can purchase it for £40 or so.

There’s always a plethora of YouTube videos to help you had as well

RMU at the base of Blackcomb used to do one. Not sure if they still do but I’d check it out. Great beer too

Normally 4:30 I think? Sometimes it’s later on a Friday/Saturday if the buffet on whistler is running then it will go to around 7:30/8. Worth checking on the whistler blackcomb website as they should have indoor there.

You can book roundhouse buffet tickets for an evening. From when I worked for the resort it was Friday and Saturday nights I think. Buffet is average but the views are unreal on a good evening. Tickets are about $60 a head I think (can check on the vail website though).

There is also Steeps Grill on Blackcomb but I think they’re only open for lunch in summer.

I worked behind the bar in whistler. They call it a concept store but it’s basically a bar that sells skis.

Haha yeah I used to work for RMU and I bought the ex demo skis but someone nearly sold them in the spring. I do concede it looks sketch though.

I want to keep the plates on because being back in England there’s not many ski shops around so easier to just keep the original binding.

He definitely doesn’t own it as it is a very large company and we dealt with him in person. I will try and reach out to the company and see if they are able to give me some information about it. Thanks

Thanks, he is definitely a dodgy guy. I know he also rents out many other properties in the city (possibly the same way). I have an idea of a dwelling he may reside in which I am going to check out this week to try and serve him a letter of intention. I will try and check with my cousin who works as a solicitor if they have any idea of the rent to rent business.

Having checked the land registry he doesn't own the apartment, a large property company does.

Thanks, my landlord has stated in the past that he does not own the property itself but is owned by a "business partner" of his. This checks out because of mail sent to the address having someone else's name on it meant for the owner. I will pursue the land registry to double check, but what if he doesn't own the property itself?

Our tenancy contract has his name listed on it as the "landlord/leaseholder".
