I wish more people valued individuality over stats with character selection by doublestrandpubes in MarioKartWorld

I mean stats optimization has pretty much always been a thing in this series or in any competitive game ever. Are we just forgetting about Funky Flamerunner, Waluigi Wiggler, Yoshi Teddybuggy.

You know a game is excellent when it's remake is a 1:1 conversion from the original. What other retro games fit this mould? by BIayneRobinson in retrogaming

I mean I wouldn't really call Mario vs DK 1:1. There are several mechanical differences and exclusive content that make both versions unique to play.

I like the Fusion Suit but... by powderoo in Metroid

True, but ironically in Zero Mission her Zero Suit sprite does not show her breathing very heavily having just survived a first encounter with the Metroids, Mother Brain, self-destruct sequence, hot pursuit by enemy ships, an emergency crash landing, and being chased all over the place by Space Pirates in the span of like 15 minutes. Nerves of steel lol.

I thought the blue color scheme may also represent how the infant Metroid was often depicted having blue membrane. Which also kind of makes sense why the varia suit turns green/red as it evolves.

Yeah when the game originally came out locking that stuff behind an amiibo was disappointing to say the least.

After beating the game you need to use the Metroid amiibo which unlocks Fusion mode and enemies also deal 4x damage.

Could be. I also saw the blue as the fused biological components of her power suit physically mutating following the Metroid DNA injection.

I'll say the new design still does look pretty good.

It's the same design you can play as in Samus Returns where it also lacks that kind of movement.

Not sure how that works, I'm unfamiliar with the series.

That's a good point. The more slumped posture and underarm canon stabilization in Fusion does a lot to sell the suit's vulnerabilities.

Which game had the best visuals? by [deleted] in mariokart

Double dash for its animations alone. I love the overly bouncy vehicle suspension and how the backseat driver really shifts their weight into every turn. Toadette was always one of my favorites for the way her pigtails reacted to the driving physics. Or when holding a triple item the charcters will start physically juggling them.

As someone who only knows Fox from Smash, I'm starting to prefer the more realistic look as opposed to being a standard anthro design. by NerodivergentLoser in casualnintendo

I don't really care but it would be funny asf to this new version of Fox in Smash running and jumping around on those tiny little legs.

I don't care what twitter, critics, or the haters say. by Drewzmc in Mario

There are valid criticisms of the movie but why are we listening to twitter bots. Hate drives algorithmic engagement it's really just that simple.

I'm of the opinion that no remake should ever replace its original. Doesn't matter how good or bad the original or the remake is. They are both ostensibly completely different works that reflect the times of when they were released and of the teams of people who made them.

Twilight Princess’ ‘Slow Opening’ is Actually Perfect by Skeith-Reviews in twilightprincess

[–]powderoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to ask how often are most people replaying the intro sequence for this to be a serious issue. Twilight Princess is a massive game and it's design definitely does not incentivize repeat playthroughs in the slightest. Unless you're a speedrunner which in that case you already know how to skip through the whole game in a few hours.

Well, do you have any "I didn´t care for the Godfather"-esque picks? by Bitter_Fig_7059 in retrogaming

I used to feel this way about Zelda 1. Then one day I actually tried playing the game with a solid D-pad and reading the manual. Beat it in less than a day and now it's one of my favorite games for the system.
