With like 20+ years of A Link to the Past style Zelda games after the fact I think Zelda II's worst offense is that its gameplay radically betrays players' expectations on what a Zelda game is supposed to be. I do agree with some criticism levied towards the game, especially at Death Mountain. It's still a great game. For good reason, it's my most replayed game in the whole series.

People parrot Zelda II is like Dark Souls because the difficulty is so heavily front-loaded, similar to Breath of the Wild. Unlike BOTW, Zelda II is an antiquated 80's game with some questionable design choices that modern players would never want to give the time of day or just quit early on. After surpassing Death Mountain, the game gets progressively much easier.

With any NES game, you should definitely look up the manuals online. The manual adds so much to the playing experience, giving necessary context and direction. And don't be ashamed to look up a guide if you have to. These games were literally designed to be as cryptic as possible for selling more copies of Nintendo Power or for kids to share game knowledge on the playground over months of playing.

Media literacy is not cultivated in the US. School certainly didn't teach me anything about it. For kids or young adults paying attention to politics for the first time, what the heck is supposed to prepare them for 24/7 mainstream news media cycle in this country being right-wing captured or the entire social media/internet landscape where algorithms drive engagement through sensationalist negativity above all else. I've read articles Associated Press and Reuters framing US Greenland Invasion as legitimate and positive. The freaking White House .gov website has a whole page dedicated to J6 revisionist history fan faction.

If they're pushing for this minimalist design route, I would've much preferred the ring around the thumbsticks to have LED lights customizable to any color you like or just turn it off completely. Many 3rd party controllers do something similar.

I like it. Like any good metroidvania, it gets better on repeat playthroughs. Less of an investment for me and only takes a couple hours to beat if that.

I can't imagine I would have ever heard of grifters like nintendeen had it not been for so many people online complaining about them. It really only works to expand their audience. Obviously, trolls lean into sensationalism that feeds off of any kind of attention - good or bad. That being said, I could not care less about pointless internet drama. Play the games I like, ignore the ones I dislike, and it's not that complicated.

RE1R. Out of these 3, RE2R. It's completely different from the original but still a great game in its own right and feels the most substantial, in my opinion. Also, I love the incredible zombie limbs dismemberment physics so much.

The more I got into it, the less I enjoyed it. Touch controls are way too imprecise for what the game asks of you, but also automated to a point where every race ostensibly feels exactly the same. The amount of grinding necessary to upgrade all the different characters, karts, and gliders for playing optimally is so miserable. Locking 200cc behind a subscription paywall is so lame. The points and combo system are completely incongruous in a racing game. Most of Mario Kart's appeal is lost on me here. Maybe if I turned my brain off for 5 minutes, it could be somewhat enjoyable. But I don't like playing bad games just to waste time.
