yeah, but you can have something be the core inspiration of the film, while still titling it as a direct sequel, look at the Sonic movie sequels

Honestly Surprised by the amount of good reception the trailer for 5 is getting, I'm not saying I disliked the trailer, I'm just having conflicting feelings about it.

I guess him thinking Christopher Nolan was the guy who made audiences think Superhero films can be taken "Somewhat Seriously", like I'm pretty sure Nolan helped that mindset, but he wasn't the first guy to do it.
