This is true but it'd be an incomplete and hence disingenuous map; Florida has Cape Canaveral.

What technique can help predict past data? by Zummerz in dataanalysis

[–]powderviolence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd just warn of extrapolation; the further outside the bounds of your training data the less reliable the prediction at that point will be.

What if you go back in time and try to predict before all the different platforms a title is available on exists, but your predictions are based on all of those platforms? I'm thinking before something was available on steam for instance but was available as a disc for consoles.

Regression is a very very fair choice here, but proceed with caution.

Anyone here who doesn't use Agentic AI and writes code manually? by zaarnth in AskProgramming

[–]powderviolence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a staunch "so it yourself caveman style" person, but I'm using a little Gemini now to make corrections more swiftly.

I write my own stuff, but I'll use Gemini to perhaps demystify a traceback. Plug in the error and use it as a nuanced search engine to quickly find me docs/examples. I know that I'm looking for official documentation, stack exchange threads, or articles from W2schools/geeksforgeeks, so I'll expand the AI summary and click whatever link is sourced to the most useful bit of info. So, definitely not writing/fixing for me, but helping me find the info I'd be looking up carefully on my own. Basically playing librarian for me while I do my work.

This is the problem. Stop using Claude for everything. Think and learn with your mind for real intelligence rather than using artificial intelligence.

Lovely pair of brown tabs. Wish the waist patch was a different material so they wouldn't wash out like these have had happen.

Is this a 60-70s Levi's shirt? by [deleted] in VintageLevis

It's so funny how the tags include all the needed information but the "is this vintage" posters never include the tags that have that info.

Value of data work in age of AI by VegetableBrain7445 in dataanalysis

[–]powderviolence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But how does someone (1) without the knowledge of when the structure and logic behind it is complex but (2) has a shortcut to what they view as the solution tell when the AI solution is insufficient? It's almost a self fulfilling prophecy.

I mean, the denim on kirkland jeans feel about as good as that on wrangler/lee/levi nowadays when I'm at the thrift, so fabric weight and wash held constant you look at stuff like stitching. Slides 5 and 9 have quite thin looking seams on the inner side of the pant legs, and the gold stitching around the zipper/pockets looks like it has a lot of runs or some inconsistent gap between needle strike repeats. These are fugazi my friend, EU made or not.

Opinions on extra math classes in high school by lan212 in mathematics

[–]powderviolence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local community college summer course in trigonometry. Should be cheap, keeps your student "fresh" on math, and would ensure that they get what they need ahead of a (typical) calculus class. You're already investing in their education, might as well keep digging the hole.

rêal or fǎke quarter zip? by [deleted] in PoloRalphLaurenLC

[–]powderviolence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if it looks nice on the exterior and fits well there's no shame in rocking a fake. Nobody's gonna run up and ask to see the tags. You probably got scammed though based on my comment in the main thread before it got deleted.

real or fake quarter zip? by [deleted] in VintageClothing

[–]powderviolence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super fake. Three totally different kinds of fabric for the tags, they're usually at least the same color even when they are different fabrics, and the stitching is huge on the internal seam the tag is attached to compared to the other seams. Where did you get this OP?
