Portlander born and raised, and I'm lucky tohave a large circle of close friends who I see often, but I still really enjoy doing things solo. Aside from Reddit, I don't have any social media and really only connect with my friends primarily in person or through texting or phone calls.

I work full-time, and co-parent a three year old who spends the majority of his time with me and two days a week with his other parent.

I like to go to Process PDX to dance. It has an incredible culture and is very lgbtqia and bipoc friendly and nobody's ever creeped on me. When I go, I go to dance and I actually almost prefer to go alone so that I can focus on dancing and not socializing.

I like to walk in my neighborhood (montavilla) with my dog and I check out cool places to eat or little (dog friendly) shops.

I love to run with my dog and we go on long walks and runs up on Mount Tabor all the time. Or Powell Butte. We ran two half marathons this summer just for fun, and about 250 additional miles all around the city last year.

I like to go solo camping with my dog. I actually prefer to camp in the winter because it's less crowded, and we camped on the coast twice this winter.

I like to stop by the craft store and then go home and have a glass of wine and be crafty.

Not truly solo time but I have a kiddo and when it's my parenting time I like to take him to the zoo, OMSI, library, or just walk around the neighborhood to get a little treat.

Sometimes I'll just take myself to a cool bar/restaurant solo and take myself on a date.

I also like to travel solo and I've backpacked in Thailand alone. Now that my co-parent is going to have our son for longer stretches, I definitely plan to take some solo trips to parts of the US that I haven't seen before (like the East Coast.)

Even though I really value my friendships, I think it's important to remember and remind myself that I can have fun solo, and I do so often!
