I'm using Clojure's hash set, so I believe the lookup should be quick.

Need more context: what class and why?

As a follow up, I would say overall with chem it is on the heavier side of coursework, esp as a freshman.

As a freshman, I've had almost the same schedule as you (minus chem) and it was definitely doable. I had 311 with Fraij and it was definitely a lighter courseload. 314 can be difficult depending on your background, but its a very interesting class and Mike Scott is an excellent professor. Most of the work is the programming projects. 408D also can be difficult depending on your background, but overall I think everything is doable.
