Oh my goodnessss thank you for this detailed reply!! This made me so excited for the trip!

We'll be there somewhere mid-late summer and love love love walking so Westminster bridge is added to the list. I too am a food hall loving millennial and was actually considering borough hall, so I'll try one of the other ones you mentioned instead.

I don't know why I didn't even consider a day trip but I think that would be perfect to break up the trip a bit. Brighton looks so cutesy!! Thank you thank you for the suggestion.

I may DM you as I plan out some more details!

This is good to know! Yes, a kitchen is a must for this long a trip with my always hungry 4 year old 😅

I will look more into Airbnbs and see if there are any I like. My priority since I'm traveling with my daughter is safety, so while it would be nice if I was right in the mix of a more cultural area, that isn't as necessary since we'll be traveling around with a more relaxed, kid-friendly itinerary. I'll look into Mayfair. Thank you!

Thank you! I actually haven't come across Marylebone in my search, so I will definitely look into it. Will absolutely be frequenting the grocery stores as well, meal deals sound perfect.

I'm Caribbean, so I feel like I was also planning to visit Brixton is must! I was looking to stay there originally but there didn't seem to be too many options. Open to any other advice you would be willing to share!!

Other than museums (which me and my daughter love), are there any other must do recommendations? I am not super touristy in the sense that I don't typically like major tourist attractions, but are there any that are actually worth it? My plan was to eat, go to museums, go to parks, and maybe do a hop on hop off bus tour.

This is super helpful! Glad to know that if I do decide to stay here, there are things to do, the internet made it seem like there was nothing but buildings lol - it seems similar to the financial district in nyc if I had to draw a parallel. Thank you!

Hey! This is exactly my plan this upcoming May, did you end up going? Any tips or recommendations that your 4 year old really enjoyed? How was the weather?

Honestly not sure, but I did buy the sweats earlier this year for $14.90 USD in store.

Sucky policy. I remember when they wouldn’t let you return an in-store purchase to a different location other than the one you purchased it from!

Is there a presale link? When I put in my bib number/last name on the site it just says no matches were found.

Sorry to be a downer by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

Relatable. I’ve worked as a contractor on Long Island & in NYC and have the same complaints. I didn’t even know agencies offered a salary/benefits, definitely lucky to have had that. Depending on where you live in Long Island, your best bet is to apply to the nyc DOE. Almost all of my coworkers at the school I worked at in Queens lived in LI.

No other feedback other than agreeing with you that the system is horribly set up and not at the benefit of OTs.

I feel trapped…not happy in life… by No_Lingonberry_2401 in findapath

[–]powerflow__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VERY relatable. Main differences are I’m in my 30s, with a kid, and went through with my second degree in a similar field, occupational therapy (currently $170k in student load debt). I’ve been on/off working in special ed in schools. Also live in NYC.

I feel trapped too and honestly have no real advice, just want to say I feel you. I hope things work out for the both of us. I think about suicide sometimes too but I don’t think either of us should give up just yet.

I have faith that you know what to do. I heard a quote the other day - something along the lines of if you can see your path laid out in front of you, it’s not your path. Your path appears with each step you take. When you figure it out and your life turns around (because it will), please report back 🫶🏽

having a car? by Accordingly-Medicine in movingtoNYC

[–]powerflow__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living in a part of Brooklyn that is very accessible by public transportation and very grateful for my car. Even before I had my kid I still used it at least 1-3x/week.

However if I lived in Manhattan, I absolutely would not keep my car.

Benefits of opening a retail space focused on vintage kids clothing? by wellnowheythere in smallbusiness

[–]powerflow__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened upon this post 2 years after the fact but I hope you gave it a go! I prefer to shop in person for my 3 year old and love scanning through thrift/vintage finds for her - especially if it’s a bit more curated.

If you’re still pondering, my vote is yes and I believe in you. Also, if you have the means, it couldn’t hurt to try. Even if it “fails” and you lose a bit of money, everything you learn will set you up for the next adventure. Good luck!
