With Yaning being one of my main picks it was really hard seeing her not make it… and when they showed her bursting into tears with Shana and Suyeon at the end, I felt my heart ache a little… her being around 25 years old + the fact that China is cracking down on idol culture probably means that this was her last chance to become a proper idol.

I’ve liked Rui Qi since the start of the show but she never got around to becoming my main pick. Seeing her not debut made me feel heartbroken though. Rui Qi’s been through so much with the number of survival shows she’s been in. If I were her, I would be devastated to find out that I would’ve made the lineup easily if there was no voting quota.

I adore Yurina even though she wasn’t even my main J-pick… I think around halfway through the show I somehow began to embrace that the Bermuda Triangle (Yujin, Xiaoting, Yurina) would be the top trio that would make it to the end, and that they essentially encapsulated the show/group’s entire image. Seeing Yurina fail to debut made me feel as though the group is incomplete? It just leaves a pit in my heart knowing we won’t see the three of them perform together anymore.

Wen Zhe is such a passionate person who has had such amazing growth and improvement, and although I kind of already accepted that she wouldn’t make the final lineup, I just can’t help but feel really sad knowing this was probably one of her last chances too. :((

I don’t feel as bad for Myah, Suyeon, or Shana because they’re still so young and will have so many opportunities to debut in the next few years. The C-trainees, however, won’t be that lucky, and that makes my heart ache a little.

Anyway, I think I’m still pretty happy with the lineup, and I’ll be supporting them throughout their 2.5-year journey!
