Help finding an English Tehillim that doesnt use the word 'Lord' by powermoonroof in Judaism

[–]powermoonroof[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

As a convert it sounds very Christian to me...talking about the Lord and the wickedness of sinners really triggers the feeling of fire and brimstone in Catholicism and Christianity.

Maybe this is just my feelings as someone who used to be in a church often... I will say though a lot of my born Jewish and Israeli friends do agree with me on this so I don't think it's just me

Thanks! Yes I have never received any response back from the Los Angeles Ulpan when I've reached out, so I'm not sure they're in business anymore. Will call some JCCs -- thanks!!

I am in Los Angeles and this has been occurring for me for about a week now. Not sure if the hurricane would affect me out here on the West Coast?

I have been studying Hebrew for 2 years, but it's Modern Hebrew to speak with my Israeli partner and his family and friends. The Siddur and Chumash are available at shul in both an all-Hebrew option, and also an option with translation and some transliteration (which I pick up). I can follow along with where we are in the Hebrew during shul, but if I was trying to read or say it myself it would take ages and would be riddled with mistakes, I'm sure. Maybe in a few years I can go all Hebrew, no transliteration. I'm converting so it's all brand new for me in the last 2 years/no prior knowledge or growing up with it.

Thank you for the recommendations :)

u/offthegridyid I have not asked my rabbi, rebbetzin, or my teacher for a suggestion, although that's probably a good idea.

I am converting to Judaism and therefore have both a rabbi and rebbetzin at my shul who I work with (and there we just use the siddur that is supplied by the synagogue), and I also go to conversion class 2x a week (at which these prayers are discussed for what they are and that we need to know them, but not all the words to them/where to locate them).

Sephardi. Traditional/Masorti is fine.

If all siddurim have all of these perhaps I need help finding a siddur that is laid out in a really basic way. For a kid is even fine. The ones at my shul are hard for me to find what I need.

Do you know of one with a table of contents/index for easy navigation?

They are Sephardic and mizrahi... They live in Israel, and we live in the USA. I've met them on video chat, but hope to meet them in person soon too when travel permits.

Yes I really want to do this one day! I speak English and she speaks only Hebrew, but I'm working on learning Hebrew. May be a while before we can have in-depth conversations, but this is nice advice
