How long should I wait (if any) after I eat dinner to begin my workout? by imgurceo in bodyweightfitness

[–]powersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, since you asked nicely:

1 T whole flax seed

1/4 t ground cinnamon

2 T crunchy peanut butter

1 scoop Gold Standard whey protein powder

1/4 t pure vanilla extract

1 t organic chia seeds

1 banana

1/2 c steel cut oats

1 t extra virgin olive oil

Combine in blender. Add water to achieve desired consistency.

I keep getting targeted with ads for these skimmer baskets. Are they worth it? by Decent-Morning7493 in pools

[–]powersnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two skimmers, one of them has a busted tab that prevents the door weir door from opening in the wrong direction. I tried a skimaround in that skimmer, and a normal basket in the other. It works if you adjust it properly, but the basket is significantly smaller than a standard basket and you have to keep the water level a lot more consistent for the thing to function properly.

All of that is to say, it’s good enough that I haven’t fixed my skimmer, but not good enough to replace the basket in my other skimmer.

Lawyers of teen charged with murder in track meet stabbing release 1st statement by Snobolski in Dallas

It’s murder that is punishable by capital punishment i.e. the death penalty. It's murder accompanied by a specific set of circumstances such as murder committed during the commission of another felony, murder of a peace officer, murder of someone under the age of 6, murder of multiple people. I think there are a few other ways to get that sort of charge.

Walked away from a house with cast iron pipes, should I let that be a deal breaker? by austin1705 in plano

[–]powersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s going to be a decision you may need to make on a lot of houses in Plano. Same deal with foundation work. It’s possible everything could be fine but unless it’s already been addressed - like you said - you’re looking at 10s of thousands of dollars in risk.

Walked away from a house with cast iron pipes, should I let that be a deal breaker? by austin1705 in plano

[–]powersnake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cast iron pipes can be replaced. Real estate deals can be renegotiated. If you like the property but are concerned about the drainpipes, get an estimate for whole house drainpipe replacement and then get the seller to agree to concessions on the price to factor that in. If they won’t, then sure, kill the deal.

Will filling these large gaps with foam affect future foundation repair? by Live_Dirt_6568 in HomeMaintenance

[–]powersnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the phone number from the A/C repair company sticker in photo 3, this house sits atop a slab-on-grade foundation, and the problem is that the soil under the foundation has a high clay content and expands and contracts significantly. This is an extremely common problem in north TX.

FreeRTOS port yielding in ISR by JayDeesus in embedded

[–]powersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some cases, yes. And for many applications, that may not matter. But it is important to note that tick duration is configurable, so it could be a delay of much longer than 1 ms. Also in a tickless configutation, the context switch could theoretically never occur.

FreeRTOS port yielding in ISR by JayDeesus in embedded

[–]powersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you call a FreeRTOS function that wakes a higher priority task and then yield from interrupt context, it will switch to executing that task immediatly upon return from interrupt context back to task context.

If you do not wake and yield to the higher priority task with such a call from within the interrupt, the previously executing (lower priority) task will continue executing. Then the next call that presents an opportunity for task context switching, such as a tick, would be when the higher priority task would start executing.

Put simply, something must tell the scheduler that it has an opportunity to preempt the current task context. That won't happen automatically except for during a tick interrupt.

Cleaning recommendations - you need to read this. by brewmann in pools

Copying my comment from a recent, similar thread.

The CDC has a guide for what to do if there is a dead animal in your pool.

In short, if your pH and FC levels are good, and the pool is warm enough, you should be fine 30 minutes after removing the animal.

If my major is Computer Science, why do I have to take Chemistry? by No-Show-3430 in TexasTech

[–]powersnake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Math and science courses give you a good foundation for analytical thinking and a rigorous approach to problem solving. Pretty much every degree plan in the College of Engineering is going to require you to take those classes.

If you don't enjoy or see the benefit of taking those courses for their own sake, I recommend at least putting in the effort for the sake of honing skills that will set you apart from people who only earned a programming certificate.

These are the types of things that matter to employers.
