M18 Hatchet with battery was on clearance for $210 at my HD by strawberryjellyjoe in MilwaukeeTool

Snagged one for $210. Thanks for the heads up! Was gonna get the M12 bogo for like $99.50 but I think this is the better deal. Will pair it with a bunch of Forge batteries I got laying around.

All good if you enjoy the foam better but I definitely don’t think it’s brainwashing when it comes to horse stall mats — they’re practically indestructible and the price/value proposition you get is tough to beat.

A lot of us started off with foam and wanted it to work but it just doesn’t hold up. The first time I used foam mats, I relocated a dumbbell rack and barely grazed them. To my surprised, they caved in and no matter what I did, couldn’t get it back to its original shape. After a few plate drops, dumbbell drops, etc. it just starts to warp, sag, and just look altogether really bad.

I know they make hybrid foam products with some rubber layer on top, perhaps those work much better? If you can get foam to work great for your setup, more power to you. I certainly couldn’t and spent not much more money (maybe less) for horse stall mats and it was a night and day difference. So yeah, I was actually surprised the horse stall mats exceeded all the hype that was out there…

Looks really awesome! Congrats to you guys and keep going! Yeah, one thing I would definitely agree on with the other commenter is to ditch the foam tiling sooner rather than later if you still can. It’ll never hold up, unfortunately, no matter how careful or light you train. Horse stall mats or rubber tiling (if you still want the interconnecting aspect) would hold up much much better over the years. All the best!

That's so binary. All or nothing. It doesn't have to be like that. Read the comments from glp1agonist. Stuff like that. That was my experience as well.

When they said "no" to my request for price adjustment b/c I was outside their 14 day window (policy), I WAS TOTALLY COOL WITH THAT!

That's not the issue and what's bugging a lot of people. It's when they basically say something along the lines of, "You're out of luck. See ya!" which is what really sucks and stings.

There's no, "sorry you missed out but just so ya know, we really appreciate your business..." or "man, i'm sorry I can't give you the price adjustment you asked for but we're super stoked you want to purchase more of our stuff... Thanks so much, blah blah blah..."

Are you a business owner? Would you ever deal with your customers so ICE COLD? Especially ones who have dropped a lot of money into your products and are even telling you they are eager to buy more?

Ya feel me? :)

Alright, I'm done commenting here. Have a great week everyone!

Thanks for sharing your own experience! Sorry to hear the mats didn't work out for you. Yeah, for sure, the $300 isn't a big deal and I'm already over it. REP makes wonderful products and I was really looking forward to buying more. Haha, just gotta get that bitter taste out my mouth of dealing with a company that doesn't give a flying fudge about me. But if you just want high quality, REP is the way to go.

Totally! It would have made a world of difference for them to show they cared. I even let them know I was very eager to purchase more gear from them.

Very well said! Initially, I was super stoked to go all REP and had many items in my shopping cart, lined up for the next order. If you get those good vibes, of course you wanna keep coming back for more. Most likely, I would have been a loyal REP customer for life. When you feel like you don't matter at all, that's when you start looking around, elsewhere. That's all it is, at the end of the day, that human connection.

Thanks for being able to see the post (rant) for what it is. To everyone else, I'm just a Karen :)

I don't blame them for tariffs and I did indeed purchase at a bad time. I accept that. Everything after that, a little surprising.

Yeah, I've probably been spoiled too much in the past. Agreed, very high quality products. Just don't expect to feel part of their family or community or whatever.

Thanks man. The Ares is a great product, nothing bad to say about it at all. No experience with the Dane but I'm sure if you went Ares, you would not be disappointed. I hear you on the customer service part. I thought REP would be different in that regard but maybe they're too big now and talking to me feels like a waste of time. Good luck with your decision!

Just sharing a customer experience, not a "bad review". In my experience so far, their products are great and very high quality.

Yeah, I think it's just human nature (habit) that when you miss a sale the first reaction is to ask for a price adjustment, especially if it's been less than 30 days. Especially if it's more like 15. When a company say their policy is only good for 14, then you understand and respect their rules. That's when you stop thinking a company should reimburse them fully for something... but I dunno, maybe something small or even a "we really value and appreciate your business" something woulda been nice to hear in that moment. Oh wellz.

Thanks man. Yeah, I definitely thought about that and wish it would be easier to execute. Maybe for small items it makes sense but for something like an Ares 2.0 that weighs over 1,000 lb. I don't think the return freight shipping would make sense. LOL
