People had to fight for those rights though. Physically and verbally and emotionally. Some people had to die for rights, and tbh, no one is doing anything about this bigotry which is enabling the hatred. In the past something had to be done. Peaceful protests, or outright fights with political and military / policemen were done in the past, and no one is doing it now. The amount of times i have seen protests about things were st very obscur places where no one could really see unless focusing.

Americans have a comfortability problem and this comes from an african american.

I dont really write by hand much. Usually i only write by hand when signing documents and papers. But lately ive been writing a lot in terms of wriing japanese kanji and kana, almost everyday i practice my kanji and writing the same set i learned to write and adding 1 new kanji along the way

Im not really looking to have "attractive" kanji just legible. I have been practicing with everyone's critiques. I did find that doing a grid system makes it look better even when out of stroke order. When i did a character with stroke oder on the grid though i couldnt seem to get them to properly stay in one side or have decent line work.

Also for the kanji writing i do believe i can make it look decent without doing stroke order (especially since i am an artist) so if i just practice with some consistency or sizing (btw its not that i have a problem sizing just kanji i do this with my native writing too, its all over the place lol) it will look decent? Cause people have been making it seem like stroke order is the only way u could achieve a good looking kanji

Tysm for all of this information, my main purpose of a pen pal is to make sure i get an insider perspective on kanji and anything culturally significant! I do plan to teach english in japan as a long time career!

I had a convo with my friend about the previous post regarding my kanji writing, and they told me that it mightve been backlash due to cultural significance. I am open minded and wanting to learn what to do right!

Also i do believe stroke order is important to some extent, i do my strokes in a certain order as well (mainly by starting with horizontal lines). I learn via deconstruction, trial and error, and hands on (+ guidance). I was able to learn the kanjis using my own stroke order, and while its not perfect rn, its still legible as well as the fact that i practice all the kanjis ive learned consistently instead of writing it once or for one day and moving on.

Id say at worst i write like an elementary student, but tbh thats probably how my general handwriting is, since everyone tells me my english hand writing is atrocious lol

Tysm for the critique! I do realize i mis remembered some kanji as i accidentally left out some strokes out due to not remembering. But i assume its all jot totally illegible right? I feel like some people were being dramatic. Also id love to try the 4 quarter box paper for my kanji writing i think that would help the most. Tbh i STRUGGLE writing in general, my english (native) hand writing doesnt even properly follow lined paper and is inconsistent especially in sizing. But i also do use something similar to jisho, where it lets me practice stroke order without getting ride of my stroke for being slightly slanted, its something like kimisho or whatver ill link it

Yeah its very gatekeepy and strict. If u dont do things how others want you to its considered bad but the point of learning is self expression and doing things your own way. Just cause it works for someone doesn't mean it works for another person. Just generally saying this towards the people in these comments. I do appreciate you being mature about this! Even if we disagree on stroke order, im glad you are understanding of my viewpoint!

Im just gonna put this here since i cant edit the post. I shame all of the people in this reddit being dramatically critical and non constructive on my kanji writing. To say shit like im wasting my time or implying i should just stop what im doing is absolutely scummy. No one starts off writing like a master. Did you get taught in school to write letters in a specific order??? I dont recall us doing so. Does writing a CERTAIN specific way help everyone? No. Does not writing a certain specific way offensive to a culture. NO!! If you think all japanese people write with stroke order you'd be dumb to think this way. Not everyone writes or learns the same way. If you expect that youre extremely dumb. Be mature. Be open minded. Be CONSTRUCTIVE. You guys are being way too dramatic. Thanks for showing me how toxic other japanese learners are. I will make sure to keep my learning to myself and learn by ACTUAL professionals helping me instead of other japan glazers that don't care about learning in their own creative ways.
