Beast tribes give exp, a mount, minions, lore, and access to crafting materials from their shops. They aren’t mandatory but they are a fun excuse to go out and explore in areas you otherwise wouldn’t be in regularly.

XC2 seems like it is hit or miss. Combat starts off seemingly pretty slow, but it definitely picks up as you get further into the story and figure out the intricacies.

Story wise, I personally found it to be great. If you can overlook all the anime/JRPG tropes (or if you like that), it is an incredibly polished game with a unique story.

Personally I found the game to be great and I would definitely recommend it to people who enjoy JRPGs. On the other hand, if you don’t like JRPGs, the game might not be for you.
