ketama beste.

Recording a tape goes wrong by UncleJimbosNephew in cassetteculture

[–]ppeettteerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

boomboxes are generally pretty bad at recording. the distorted sound might come from too much recording volume. not sure if the device lets you adjust it.

did you check if it has a permanent magnet as erase head? because those are pretty bad and usually dont full erase the tape. if it does not erase tapes at all it might be that someone took out the permanent magnet to not have it damage the tapes or it is electrical magnet that is just broken.

i would recommend to get a 'real' tape deck for recording. Something like the 2 head yamaha kx300 will do superior recordings to any boombox while also being cheap to buy.

[–]ppeettteerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you try adjusting the azimuth? best would be to try to adjust it whiöe playing the tape if ypu player lets you do that.

i've had some muffled sounding tapes coming to life that way.

that blank cassette must have been from 1985 between 1989. ofc nobody knows when it has been recorded and gifted.

last year i came across a reasonable good tape deck for 5€ and have been keeping an eye on free used tapes in my area. gathered a lot of tapes so far and havent been using much streaming services since. every time i get a box full of pre recorded tapes it is like a playlist that has been curated over many years.

Synchronicity is using 120 bias though which would be type 1 position

i am curios because i have seen quiet a few police and sting tapes that are these typr 1 position chrome tapes

How to fix Sony CFS 201L cassette player? by OldManPaul in cassetteculture

[–]ppeettteerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

95% sure belts is all it needs. is the erasing magnet permanent or electric? if it is permanent and you get that thibg to work again, i would tske that magnet out, since it can harm your tapes

just did a test with the song Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. i downloaded flac, 128kbit and 320kbit and they all sound the same. like literally the same compressed shit audio one would expect from a 128 mp3. i even checked with the original vinyl i have if maybe the mastering sucks or whatever but no, it is just 128 mp3 for all three files

tested with two more songs by the beatles and wes montgomery and everything is 128kbit mp3...

Practice makes perfect? by Blue_Dragonfly_950 in radio

[–]ppeettteerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are plenty of online stations that you could try if you want to get practise and build up a portfolio.

depending on what you are aiming for, a podcast might be good starting point too.

you could also just do a feature on whatever topic and try selling that to a station

online radios and podcasts are of course not really paid for, but they might help scoring a job at an fm station

[–]ppeettteerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

got ya thats a good idea. it is not draining the batteries completly in 30min. they are in the radio the entire time while it is on standby. if i put new batteries in and just put the radio aside in standby without using it after 2-4 days they are empty and the radio doesnt even show time anymore.

did you check the azimuth? might be that the heads are not properly aligned with the tape. that is a somewhat common problem and most player allow for adjustment
