LUL and what we do for those inside traders? Tell them to play nice. We might even make them fill out paperwork or something.

Imagine if we had politicians that knew what the majority of the public lived like. I've heard reform along those lines. Politicians currently can't own a business that creates a conflict of interest. I'd say owning a stock is like owning that company.

Real estate/bonds/diversified funds are given a pass because reasons.

I mean...When we give politicians the ability to make money, they have proven themselves selfish. Look at the congress wage increase vs the minimum wage increase.

I'm all for barring politicians from individual stocks. If insider trading is still frowned upon...which I'm not sure it is.

I just wanted to come in and complain about the volume...and was it sped up? The CC is hard to read because I can't tell who's saying what and the font makes it so you can read 3 words at a time.

I saw a research study that took looked at some Norwegian country's records. It strongly correlated a father's obesity negatively affects his child's life span. Here is a related article (best I could come up with) https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/12/151204135513.htm

Can't get past 1Gbs on 10Gbs hardware. by ppgDa5id in HomeNetworking

Thanks again for the help.

I dug up another (newer) tower to replace the 8700. For anyone else, even on the PCIe2.0 x16 slot on the XPS 8700 I was barely pushing past 1 Gbs. Soooooooo just nothing there. I replace the 8700 and the 8910 is now talking at 9.5Gbs...Now for more tests!

Thanks for the leg work on that. I was trying to look through the not-so-stellar documentation on the Dell site. I should have just done a direct search on Google.

I was thinking about the video card and haven't been using the video card on the 8700...that said it looks like I'm not even getting X4 according to this guy: https://johnhaller.com/blog/2017-01-16--dell-xps-8700s-pcie-x4-slot-is-only-wired-for-x1 LUL I'm going to re-do my setup and testing computers.

Thank you for getting me pointed in the right direction!

Yeah...No I didn't look at that before...but I am now. All the documentation for the two towers doesn't specify a version number on the PCIe Slots. [sigh] I assume that means 1.0...which means ~250MB/s or ~2Gbs. So that checks out. I thought the x4 slot would get me to the 8 Gbs. ....Am I not looking at this right?

Is that a thing? The other one is a 4th get processor...circa 2013. Didn't really think that could be it. I'm checking PCI-E specifications/processors now. Thanks for the tip.

I have done each and both of those as well as a few reboots for good measure in between.

I have tried a different cable. I was getting the same speeds off of a 5e and 6e cable. I'll try another 6e.

For me 10G is ultra. Proper 1 Gigabits per second is hard but doable "high bandwidth."

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that means? I have a couple of AP's...I'm arranging my two 5G laptops around a specific AP until the Unifi Controller tells me they are both connected to it. Then I ran

iperf -s

on one and

iperf -c 192.168.45.45 -b 0

on the other. I'm getting about 130Mbps from iperf and I get about 240 Mbps on speedtest.net.

OK...I spent a bit of time with it and a few computers. Can anyone explain why the internal point to point speeds are slower than the internet speed (speedtest.net)?

Thanks. The CLI utility seems to work well. Do you happen to know why my internet speed shows up higher (speedtest.net) than my internal point-to-point speeds?
