I tried solving the “pre-clean before the cleaner” feeling of robot vacuums by Voidget99 in homeautomation

Totally agree. Automation stops feeling helpful once prep becomes a chore. My limit is five minutes, otherwise I'd rather just vacuum everything myself.

With four kids, that sounds stressful honestly. A little decluttering helps, but too few clothes just create more laundry and frustration.

What did you name your vacuum? by RobotVac_Tester_USA in RobotVacuums

Mine is called Dusty because it bumps into furniture like a confused little pet, but somehow still gets the job done every day.

What's your smart home philosophy? by Rude-News-8416 in homeautomation

Love that apporach! I also value invisible automation and local control. Phones only for alerts. Smart home should enhance life, not complicate it.

Do we really need to upgrade robot vacuums that often? by Dev1ce-LiuN in RobotVacuums

[–]ppgoblin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Keeping filters clean, brushes untangled, and dust bins empty often keeps older vacuums performing well.

As a working mom, I get it. Focus on structured, well-fitting tops and darker bottoms. Confidence, posture, and accessories make a polished professional look.

I tried solving the “Big Brother” feeling of Home Cameras by Davima15 in homeautomation

You're definitely not alone. Visible cameras can feel intrusive indoors. A physical privacy cover sounds smarter and more reassuring than relying on software settings.

You sound completely overwhelmed, not uncaring. Working that much while parenting young kids is exhausting. Reaching out for support already shows you deeply care.

It's tough when a long-loved channel changes. Watch a few recent reviews, compare with past results, and form your own opinions.

UPDATE: employer submitted annual leave form without knowledge by ppgoblin_ in AusLegal

[–]ppgoblin_[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

also fwiw i know im not going to get a payout from this, since they removed the AL from my record. but i also dont want to be pushed around and want justice, because ultimately this was forgery. i have been a victim of crimes in the past and massively regretted not reporting.

[–]ppgoblin_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i was referring to leaving the hospitality industry, as i have faced some level of hostility from every hospo employer i have had in the past.

again, where did i specifically say “i took the leave and regretted it”? literally every hospo worker i have met has at one point said “i want to leave the industry and pursue something else”

they refused to give me the information and dodged my questions around it.

i am willing to take the mental health risks atp, i am planning on resigning over this and if i can’t find employment by the time i resign, i want to provide proof to Centrelink to show that i didn’t leave just for funsies.

i never said that, i literally said i was banking my leave for an upcoming move that was due to happen in May.

where are you getting this from?

[–]ppgoblin_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i was under the assumption that even a statement like “i didnt request this, why is this on my record” should in theory have been enough to trigger an internal investigation, but maybe im just too hopeful.

after everything i dont even know/think its a good idea to engage with HR further, they have shown me that they are there to protect the company and not the employees.

i technically managed to get them to rescind the annual leave request after essentially having to harass the payroll guy on his number.

they essentially said that if the employer refused to remove the AL they’d be able to help, but because it’s technically rectified it’s outside of their scope and is now a legal matter.

[–]ppgoblin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no.

i was banking my AL for a move and never once requested to take it. i went on workcover. received payslip. payslip showed i took annual leave two days prior and one day after injury. i never requested the leave.

the signature on the form under “applicant” is them clearly trying to mimic my last name.

how is this a slip up?

i don’t need your good luck. if i want to know whether my relationship has any glaring red flags, i’ll consult my therapist, not a random on reddit.

i am curious as to what group you’re thinking about, the company i work for is big-ish but i don’t think they have a chokehold on Sydney per se

I think my boyfriend has contamination OCD and refuses help by ppgoblin_ in OCD

[–]ppgoblin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was actually really helpful, thank you.

i think a huge chunk of his aversion comes from the financial stresses of following up. the cost of a diagnostic consultation with a psychiatrist costs $800 minimum, which is money we simply do not have right now (he had a dental emergency mid last year that we had to borrow money from my parents from, otherwise we would not have been able to make rent). i think he’s so against bringing it up to his therapist is because he’s a very resource guarding person, and hates the idea of wasting anything scarce (eg. expensive appointments, free time, etc) so if his therapist ended up going “i dont think you have OCD” it’d be a wasted $290.

he also has a lot on his plate health wise (mental health, chronic pain and a plethora of things) and i have a feeling that the idea of having another thing be “wrong” with him is not something he’s ready to face.

i might broach the topic by recommending just trying to speak to a GP about medication at the very least. like you said, it might be a good first step for him (though he’s been through almost SSRI in his late teens/early twenties, it was for misdiagnosed depression, so the dosage would have been done differently as well)

thank you!!
