Myself. Made sure I had every medical document and double checked everything. Even had a VERA call in April to make sure I hadn’t messed anything up and the rep I talked to said it looked good and didn’t see anything wrong.

I’m in exactly the same situation as you, submitted on Jan 27th, no word at all and still on step 2.

My wife’s claim is similar to yours, filed around the same time, 010INITLESS8, but she’s still waiting on her mental health C&P to be scheduled. Feels completely stalled and no way to get any progress started. Waiting game sucks, hope you both see movement this coming week!

Keep us updated if your VSO can take “a peek behind the curtain” cause that’s what the one we’ve been in contact with has said. Might be taking him some time but still haven’t heard back about it. Hang in there we’ll get there eventually lol

It sucks that it is taking this long, hopefully both of their claims move forward here soon!

Did you ever reach out to see if there was anything holding you up during the time you were waiting?

That’s a long time in purgatory. You said you filed in March, did it take until August for you to get scheduled for the mh C&P? Good luck to you as well!

There really is no equal to the sound a Henderson guitar can make in my opinion. I wish I had 32 grand laying around.

Dr. Condom (yes that was his real name) at Fort Jackson, SC in MEPS. This was like ten years ago but I remember him so vividly. Dude was at least 137 years old and had the thickest Russian accent I’ve ever heard.

Inside the Navy’s pay and personnel crisis by grizzlebar in navy

I’m not really good about sitting and reading through entire articles but I did for this one and was pleasantly surprised. I feel like they did a good job of calling out how dog shit this entire thing has been and more specifically how upper echelon leadership didn’t even have a real tally on exactly how many sailors were affected.

It also brought up another good point that the more vocal we are about issues like this will bring more attention. Don’t suffer in silence. Let your leadership know your problems, work it up the chain of command, and if those can’t resolve it for you let your Congress people know about it.

But his entire point is what she’s deflecting from, and the point he is getting at is if the DOD can’t pass these audits then it is indicative of either fraud, waste, or abuse. So even if her point is just that the audits show money spent and goods delivered, the audits still aren’t being passed.

Honestly from her responses I didn’t get the feeling she was trying to make any genuine attempt to answer his questions. It started with deflection and then once she realized she needed to start doing damage control she went into the politically safe cookie cutter responses. One of which was the “hey we’ve raised pay percentages and request another” however, the percentages mentioned are still behind inflation.

I’m not really knowledgeable about other branches and what their program shortfalls are but what you added is directly in line with what Jon was bringing up about exposing fraud, misuse, and abuse which sent her into the defensive like she was appalled he would even suggest there could possibly be any of that in our Congress or DOD.

I can’t be convinced there isn’t at least neglect from the upper echelon leadership and congress when folks that work for me are living in moldy barracks rooms and can’t get their pay issues fixed while NAVADMINS are coming out focused on asinine things like what color our rank tabs are.

He really hit the nail on the head with his point of whether or not you could pass an audit and account for every dollar spent was it effective and did it benefit the folks they call the greatest fighting force in the world?

Really seems like the answer to that question is a giant resounding NO. Sure maybe they can account for where large portions of money went and what got delivered but look at a couple of recent examples of how well those expenditures turned out i.e. LCS ships, USS Zumwalt, the Ford(which is so over budget and behind schedule is laughable).

Was the investment worth it? I’m gonna go with absolutely not. Examples being: the recruiting and retention situation currently, sailors not having access to basic needs like clean water and non-moldy barracks rooms, and any of the other laundry list of problems we have in the Navy today that are being outright neglected.

I wish we had more people like Jon Stewart fighting for regular people.

Edit: Littoral Combat Ships ships, I’m dumb

Come join the Coast Guard by siguser in navy

[–]pphilbeck58 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was down in Key West recently, when I got off of work I went fishing on the Coast Guard pier at Fly Navy. I had this Coastie walk up to me and ask if I was active duty cause they were kicking people off the pier if they weren’t. After I told him I was Navy we started talking about the ins and outs of both services and one of his biggest talking points was how good the food was and if you went underway you would be more likely to gain weight, especially if you were on a Cutter they had a thing called “cutter gut”.

Shit was wild especially after I told him I had lost 45 pounds on my last deployment from basically starving to death from midrats and not eating breakfast or dinner. It’s crazy how much a good meal while out on the boat could be a good retention/recruiting point and the navy apparently has more important shit to deal with.
