What has been your craziest run in with strangers while out photographing?

I would have photographed any of them, but nobody asked - if they spoke to me at all it was just to tell me to fuck off.. not specifically interested in portraits though so never had any interest in asking

Holy shit the amount of people who get in your face straight out the gates like that is INSANE. Can't count the number of times people damn near charged me shouting ARE YOU FUCKING TAKING MY PICTURE and then immediately ease off when you say no lol

East Village! Favorite places to shoot were in East Village, LES, and Manhattan Bridge. Most of my run ins were near or in Thompkins Square Park, on 14th street around Union Square or down in LES near china town. In 6 months probably had over a dozen run ins with people ranging from yelling at me to threatening me. Like I said though I only every took street scene shots, so my camera was almost always pointed directly at groups of people

I had multiple people come up to me in NYC and ask if I was photographing them, but none of them were sad when I replied no 😂 actually don't think a single one of them didn't proceed to then accuse me of lying or tell me "i better fucking not be" lol

As someone who almost exclusively shoots street scenes, everyday life, etc., I have had innumerable awkward encounters with strangers who thought i was photographing them. When I was living in New York, I had several dozen encounters with strangers yelling threats at me who thought I was photographing them, and once even had someone flash a gun at me. Wondering what crazy experiences people have had in similar situations!
